Who Is Graham Hancock? Is He Seeking Truth Via Ancient Historical Clues, Travel, Exploring Other Cultures, Consciousness, Religions, Beliefs, Stories, Theory Of Human Evolution,  Ayahuasca, Archeology, And Mysteries Of The Past, Or Is He Promoting Racism? 

Part of the definition of science is the seeking of truth. But to seek truth, a person often has to step out of the 'box' of the status quo, the accepted, the norm, and the 'established' science, accepted dogma, settled beliefs, or a body of knowledge. People who think differently or outside of the box are often feared, hated, or attacked. People who are different in skin color, religion, culture, beliefs or history are often feared, hated or attacked.

Graham Hancock says he is a journalist, who is reporting on the work of other experts, such as geologists, archaeologists, etc. A journalist is ideally completely impartial and reports on only the facts, while also presenting both sides, and then letting the reader or viewer decide the final way to go. Does Graham fit this model of an ideal journalist who is totally impartial, non judgmental, unbiased, and only offering the opinions of others in a neutral manner? 

SEEKING TRUTH IS PART OF THE SCIENTIFIC METHOD, WHETHER IT IS DONE HISTORICALLY, PRESENT DAY, OR IN THE FUTURE


Travel is one way to seek truth, while dispelling ignorance, bias, racism, or prejudice, plus narrow minded thinking. Seeking out local people who have a historical knowledge of their own culture and ancient stories is a good way to get a more comprehensive overview from a higher vantage point that includes many viewpoints, and not just one. It is not enough to just view historical sites in other countries. Part of the journey of a true truth seeker is going into the culture, beliefs, food, religion and history as told by those who are not white, nor Christian. To what extent is Graham Hancock in pursuit of truth, (which is about staying open and neutral) and to what extent is he trying to prop up a set in concrete belief system within a white, ethnocentric view of Christianity for example?  

Part of the job of a journalist is to look at both 'sides' of any subject or person, and that is what this article does, around the work and life of Graham Hancock.

Graham Hancock features stories of other cultures, religions and their history, from their perspective, and not only from a pre-set judgmental Christian belief system, which is exactly what a true seeker of truth would aspire to do. 



Graham Hancock Are the bags, and the fish/serpent/dragon symbolism, the insignia of the survivors of a lost civilization who travelled the world after a great cataclysm when most of mankind had fallen into chaos, “living without discipline or order, just like animals" as Berossos put it? Ancient myths are full of reports of civilisers who came in a time of darkness, often after a flood, to put things to rights. 

Or are we dealing with something even more mysterious than a lost human civilization?" 

If humanity did not descend genetically and historically from Africa and black skinned ancestors, then where did it come from?

Back in 1982, two of the most renowned evolutionary scientists of the modern age, Professor Alan Wilson and his understudy, Rebecca Cann, discovered compelling evidence for an Australasian genesis for modern humans. These controversial findings never emerged in any of their academic papers; in fact, they only appear in a short transcript included in a book published in the same year by two British research scientists, The Monkey Puzzle: A Family Tree. Silence does not change facts, and the fact remains that there is compelling DNA evidence pointing towards Australasia as the first home of Homo sapiens. Indeed, so much data exists that it eventually led to my controversial new book, The Forgotten Exodus: The Into Africa Theory of Human Evolution. My research colleagues and I have uncovered overwhelming evidence that places the first modern humans in Australasia, with several other advanced hominin forms.

There might be some temptation to dismiss this matter out of hand, as it can be difficult to accept that leading academics have got it so wrong. It is, however, important to understand that in every case the opposing arguments against the current consensus position are based on, or supported by, peer-reviewed studies or statements given by consensus academics. Could it be that the year 2016 will one day be known as the year that the Out of Africa paradigm died?

If 2016 becomes associated with the end of one scientific paradigm, then 2017 may become related to the emergence of a new model for human origins, one that I am proposing and have termed, ‘Into Africa’. My Into Africa theory is closely related to the ‘Out of Australia’ theory formulated by two of my Australian collaborators, Steven and Evan Strong, but goes significantly further down the rabbit hole of our evolutionary story.

Why does the Graham site seem to focus on only those stories that agree with the Old Testament Bible version of things? Why not compare all 100 creation stories, and not just those that come from a Jewish source? Let's look at more deeply at the Bible creation story and how it may be racist in it's interpretation.

PART 1: The Kolbrin On The Sons Of God and Daughters Of Men
Scholars often compare Genesis 6:1-4 with some equally strange pages in the Books of Enoch. These are an ancient apocryphal Jewish religious works dating from the 2nd-1st century BC and ascribed to Enoch, the great-grandfather of Noah. The first section of the Books of Enoch tells the story of a mysterious group of angels known as ‘the Watchers’.i

As if Genesis and Enoch were not perplexing enough, the metaphysical pages of the Kolbrin (which has no established provenance) also speak of the Sons or Children of God. One of the Kolbrin’s six Egyptian Books, the Book of Gleanings, contains a lengthy narrative that echoes some of Genesis 6: 1-4 and Enoch, and may predate both.

This is an attempt to bring together the three texts and make sense of them.

The above article featured on the Graham Hancock site goes into various ways of 'interpreting' a few sacred texts, but only goes in one direction, which is to 'confirm' the theory that an ancient white race started all of humanity, via superior aliens and giants. Couldn't this interpretation of superior white aliens being the basis for all 'superior whites' be considered to be racist?  How many ways can a sacred text be interpreted?

Why not focus on the many different sacred texts all around the world, such as the Vedas, which go way further back into history than the Bible does? The direction that the US is heading in right now is dismissing all science and the scientific method, as well as getting rid of all public education. If we toss the water out with the baby, where will we end up going?

Giant 700-Foot-Wide Asteroid In Trajectory With Earth In 2023
According to a report in the Express, citing NASA and ESA sources, a giant 700-foot-wide Asteroid is heading toward Earth. Since it’s located on a risky trajectory, there is a small possibility that it could collide with Earth.

According to the report, the asteroid has the potential of colliding with earth on 62 different impact trajectories, from between 2023 and 2117. Scientists refer to the asteroid as 2018 LF16, observing it for the last time on June 16, according to NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). The observations have shown that there are 62 different dates in which the asteroid could collide with Earth, placing it as a potential threat to our planet.

The first potential date of a collision will be on Aug. 8, 2023. There are two other risky trajectories close to the first one occurring on Aug. 3, 2024 and on Aug. 1, 2025. The giant 700-foot-wide asteroid moves through space at a speed of more than 33,844 miles per hour.

Huge crater discovered in Greenland – here’s how the impact may have wiped out the mammoths
Scientists have discovered a 31km wide impact crater beneath the Hiawatha glacier in Greenland. The discovery, published in Science Advances, was made using airborne radar surveys which unveiled a circular bedrock depression beneath the ice. The presence of quartz and other grains and features on the ground helped the team confirm the finding – these showed signs of having been subjected to large shock pressures.

Analysis of the grains also shows that the impact was most likely made by an iron meteorite more than 1km wide. It would have occurred during the Pleistocene, between about 12,000 and 3m years ago. This is by no means the only large impact crater on Earth, and research shows just how much such features can teach us about the history of our planet – including the evolution of life. So how could the Greenland impact have changed our planet?

Many of the oldest impacts from space occurred on our planet’s most ancient crusts and in the centre of its large, continental tectonic plates. Unfortunately, this crust is continually renewed – older rocks are destroyed by weathering processes and the remains are recycled into new rocks. This process destroys evidence of early impacts from large bodies. Also, many impact craters (often initially mistaken for extinct volcanic craters) have formed circular lakes, meaning that many features have been lost due to water erosion.

It certainly strikes a chord with me, since I posted yesterday on the the role of psychotic religious beliefs in the continuing slaughter and misery prevailing in Israel/Palestine. As well as some positive comments I also received some hateful and unpleasant ones (both in open posts and in private messages) from people who identify strongly with one "side" or the other in the Israel/Palestine conflict. 

Please know, dear friends, there are no "sides" in this appalling misery. We are all human beings. Nothing more, nothing less and it is time we recognized that our fundamental humanity must transcend any religious, or political or ethnic affiliation and bring us, through love, to peace. GRAHAM HANCOCK AND THE LOST CIVILIZATION THEORY; IS IT RACIST? 

There are always many ways to view history. One way to view history is from a 'colonial' viewpoint, which is racist. Another way to view history is from the viewpoint of those who were oppressed, conquered, enslaved, or 'disappeared'. Which way do the books, videos and articles created by Graham Hancock go?

What’s amazing is that this argument hasn’t changed appreciably in centuries. Ignatius Donnelly used it in Atlantis: The Antediluvian World (1882): “The mounds of Europe and Asia were made in the same way and for the same purposes as those of America. [...] The pyramids of Egypt, Assyria, and Phœnicia had their duplicates in Mexico and Central America.” Many forget that Donnelly did not invent this argument but acquired it from the lost race theorists of the 1830s and 1840s, who drew on colonial opinions before them.

And, boy, does Roseland have colonialist views. He seizes on Hancock’s borrowed claim that the Atlantean heroes were white Caucasians by asking if white Americans engaging in poverty tourism in third world countries are continuing the tradition of the Atlanteans by patronizing the poor—those people “living like animals”—and civilizing those unfortunates outside of Atlantis’s reach. To this, he adds a shockingly colonialist view of what he thinks happens when the Great Men leave town: “And why didn’t they continue doing it? Why do all the supposed descendants of the megalith builders live in squalor now? There’s a stark contrast between megalithic architecture and the decrepit modern day cities of Cairo, Lima or Athens.” It’s good that he threw Athens in there, just to make plain that the Caucasian Aryan supermen visited benighted white people, too. But for him to blithely dismiss centuries of colonialism and imperialism, and the devastating effects they had on local cultures, as merely something that happened between the Golden Age of megalith builders and the misery of stupid poor people today is shockingly ignorant, especially for a man who claims that magic pills named for a horse turned him into a super-genius.

Roseland concludes with a false dichotomy, demanding to know how megaliths arose if not for Atlanteans. “Aliens?” he asks. No, how about people? If you believe men from Atlantis could raise large stones, then why not the “animal” savages you imagine were living in the areas where these stones stand. Why were they unable to achieve the same level of genius? Did they not have magic horse pills?

Roseland’s review is terrible. It blatantly endorses Hancock with arguments drawn from alt-right and libertarian internet memes and ideology. But it is instructive in this sense: While Hancock has steadfastly maintained that his views were neither racist nor colonialist, we see in stark relief how the audience for Hancock’s work absorbs, embraces, and utilizes the messages he provides.

GRAHAM HANCOCK BIBLIOGRAPHY AND HIS 'SEARCH' FOR THE BIBLICAL ARK AND FOR THE ARK OF THE COVENANT

Graham Hancock has spent some time looking for both the Ark and for the Ark Of The Covenant. Part of the history of this story is that it is based on a 'colonial' viewpoint which is biased towards only one religion, one point of view, and one colonial power, which happens to be 'white'. This Bible based Christian/Jewish story ignores the stories of many other cultures and religions.

Graham Hancock - "In the early 1980's, when I was East Africa correspondent of The Economist, writing about wars, politics, economics and aid programs, I had no idea where fate was going to lead me or what strange seas of thought I would find myself sailing on. But in 1983 I made my first visit to Axum in northern Ethiopia, then in the midst of a war zone, and found myself in the presence of an ancient monk outside a little chapel in the grounds of the cathedral of Saint Mary of Zion. The monk told me that the chapel was the sanctuary of the Ark of the Covenant and that he was the guardian of the Ark, the most sacred relic of the Bible, supposedly lost since Old Testament times. What he said seemed ludicrous but for some reason it intrigued me. I began to look into the Ethiopian claim and found much surprising and neglected evidence that supported it, not least the faint traces of a mission to Ethiopia undertaken by the Knights Templar in the twelfth century. I kept adding to that dossier of evidence while also continuing to pursue my current affairs interests (including Lords of Poverty, my controversial book about foreign aid, published in 1989), and finally, in 1992, I published The Sign and the Seal: A Quest for the Lost Ark of the Covenant, my first full-fledged investigation of a historical mystery.

What may be missing from the Hancock website is information such as the following, which is a  more universal 'story' around the ARK in many different cultures, religions and belief systems all around the world. The Great Flood is not a patented exclusive story that is solely in the domain of the Bible, white Christians or Jews, or even white ancient ancestors for which all traces and historical record have been lost due to the Great Flood, or some huge comet disaster.

Barrett called "a version of the old Jewish-Masonic plot so beloved by ultra-right-wing conspiracy theorists."[12] They suggest a connection between the pillars of Solomon's Temple and the Twin Towers, and between the Star of David and The Pentagon.[13] A contemporary review of Talisman by David V. Barrett for The Independent pointed to a lack of originality as well as basic factual errors, concluding that it was "a mish-mash of badly-connected, half-argued theories".[14] In a 2008 piece for The Telegraph referencing Talisman, Damian Thompson described Hancock and Bauval as fantasists.[15]

Canadian author Heather Pringle has placed Hancock within a particular pseudo-intellectual tradition going back at least to Heinrich Himmler's infamous research institute, the Ahnenerbe. SUMMARY

Racism is so deeply embedded inside white culture that it has become largely unconscious, especially if a person is raised in a white racist home. The US and other white nations have been racist colony establishing empires for many generations. To some extent, anyone who is 'white', is racist, when viewed from a global historical perspective. Racism is so deeply embedded in white supremacy, white culture and white religion, that racism easily becomes invisible and undetectable to those who are acting in overtly or covertly racist ways, even as they deny being racist.  Most racists deny being racists, even as they are being racist, both overtly and covertly, consciously, and unconsciously. 

Graham may or may not be racist. That conclusion can be made by each person individually after doing their own seeking of truth in this direction. I didn't because I was too devastated and overwhelmed. For the first time in 15 years working with the brew Mother Aya gave me a grim diagnosis. Terminal cancer. Dead man walking. And nothing she could do about it." 

Graham Hancock I drank Ayahuasca here at Rythmia in Costa Rica last night (Monday 26 Nov) after more than three years away from the brew, and I'm pleased to report that I had a beautiful experience filled with love and light. My previous session was early in 2015, and although I smoked DMT in 2016 (a session extended with Syrian Rue tea), there is nothing quite like Mother Ayahuasca for doing the deep personal work and making the real breakthroughs.

I was here at Rythmia late last year, 2017, and that was the first time since I began working with the brew in 2003, that I sat in circle but didn't drink. The reason for my abstinence was simple and direct. That same year, in May 2017 and again in August 2017, I had suffered a series of massive epileptic seizures which, in the case of the August 2017 incident led to me being put into an induced coma in the hospital and placed on a ventilator for more than 48 hours (https://grahamhancock.com/back-from-the-gates-of-death/).

Following that, there was some concern of a negative interaction between Ayahuasca and the anti-convulsants I must now take every day for the rest of my life. Subsequently, however, I had the opportunity to discuss my condition (and meds) with some of the leading researchers in the field and was assured that I could drink the brew safely without the haunting fear of inducing further seizures.

So... here I am at Rythmia again with my beloved wife Santha at my side, and last night we had a truly magical session

I feel restored in my health and my energy and have a much better grip on what I know my priorities must be. The medicine tonight will be stronger, and stronger again on Wednesday, and strongest on Thursday night. Likely it will become challenging, but I'm so glad to be here with a great group of people and feel like I am undergoing some kind of rebirth. Close to 100 of us drank together last night. That is a BIG group, and normally I prefer to drink in smaller circles. But they have such expertise at Rythmia, the facilitators have such a calm reassuring presence, and the ceremonial space is so beautiful that everything worked together perfectly to create a synergy of joy, peace and love. Who could ask for anything more?

Rythmia is, unashamedly, a luxury resort, and I make no apologies for that. I've taken some criticism for coming here from those who believe Ayahuasca should be made available free of charge, or always drunk in austere circumstances, and while I understand where that criticism is coming from I simply do not agree with it.

Although I've yet to encounter a place where Ayahuasca is offered free of charge, I've walked the walk in the past 15 years and drunk the brew in some very austere circumstances -- some in the heart of the Amazon rainforest. I am grateful for every experience, and I honour all circumstances in which Ayahuasca is made available so long as the shamans or facilitators are well motivated. Nonetheless, if Ayahuasca is to play the part it can play in the transformation of Western technological society and our re-integration with spirit, then Rythmia is an important part of the process. Why? First because many people who are curious about Ayahuasca and are thinking of giving the brew a try, also have fears about drinking in physically uncomfortable settings. Then there are those who have medical concerns and wonder if their health is up the rigours of the brew. Rythmia provides a setting in which people troubled by such concerns can give themselves permission to work with Ayahuasca for the first time. Rythmia is fully legal and licensed by the Costa Rican government as a medical facility offering the brew, and there are medical doctors on Rythmia's full-time staff who are here to monitor the health of participants and to provide reassurance and back-up if needed. Then, in addition, it is very pleasant the day following a session to occupy a comfortable room, to be able to dive into the pool and chill out, and to enjoy good, wholesome organic food. Such facilities cannot be provided free of charge and if we are to have successful and safe Ayahuasca retreats then those retreats must be run on a sustainable model. No point in creating a wonderful retreat only to have to shut it down a year later because it's not a sustainable business.

I wish Rythmia well therefore, and hope that it continues to go from strength to strength. I intend to come here every year, so long as the universe allows.

Anyone can be judged by a distant past, which may paint a person in a certain light. But a person is not a static thing that just sits there. People can change, and sometimes, they can even go through radical transformations. Even if Graham was raised in a white supremacist or racist environment, he traveled quite extensively and was exposed to many different cultures, religions and belief systems and that is a good thing, wouldn't you agree?

The result is that people naturally seek out drugs and the temporary alterations in consciousness that they produce. Not all people in every society will do this, perhaps not even a majority, but certainly a very substantial minority—for example the 2 million Britons who are known to take illegal drugs each month 3 or those 20 million people in the US who have been arrested for marijuana possession since 1965. And these of course are only the tip of the iceberg of the much larger population of American marijuana users, running into many more tens of millions, who have, by luck or care, not yet fallen foul of the law and are thus not reflected in the arrest statistics.

Needless to say, it is of course exactly the same urge to alter consciousness that also impels even larger numbers of people to use legal (and often extremely harmful) drugs such as alcohol and tobacco—which, though they may not alter consciousness as dramatically as, say, LSD, are nevertheless undoubtedly used and sought out for the limited alterations of consciousness that they do produce.

For the hundreds of millions of people around the world whose need to experience altered states is not and cannot be satisfied by drunken oblivion or the stimulant effects of tobacco, it is therefore completely natural to turn to “drugs”—and, since the “War on Drugs” means that there is no legal source of supply of these substances, the inevitable result is that those who wish to use them must resort to illegal sources of supply.

Herein lies great and enduring harm. For it is obvious, and we may all see the effects everywhere, that the criminalization of drug use has empowered and enriched a vast and truly horrible global criminal underworld by guaranteeing that it is the only source of supply of these drugs. We have, in effect, delivered our youth—the sector within our societies that most strongly feels the need to experience altered states of consciousness— into the hands of the very worst mobsters and sleazeballs on the planet. To buy drugs our sons and daughters have no choice but to approach and associate with violent and greedy criminals. And because the proceeds from illegal drug sales are so enormous, we are all caught up in the inevitable consequences of turf wars and murders amongst the gangs and cartels competing in this blackest of black markets.

There can be no more intimate and elemental part of the individual than his or her own consciousness. At the deepest level, our consciousness is what we are—to the extent that if we are not sovereign over our own consciousness then we cannot in any meaningful sense be sovereign over anything else either.

In countries with a colonial legacy, the questions we must ask are straightforward. How do societies move to heal the multigenerational trauma that drives the misery of many Native communities? What can be done to undo the dynamics our past has dictated? Some may balk at such inquiry, fearing the discomfort that comes with guilt. In truth, this is not a matter of communal guilt, but of communal responsibility. It is not about the past. It is about the present. And it is about all of us: when some among us suffer, ultimately we all do.

“Your book humanizes the addict,” many readers have told me. That acknowledgement reflects a fundamental and common misperception. Addicts are human. What keeps many of us from seeing that? It is only the habit of our egocentric mind that divides the world into “us and them.” More precisely, it is our inability—or refusal—to see the us in “them” and the them in what we take to be “us.”

Such failure of imagination is seen is every realm, from personal relationships to international politics. Simply put, it reflects that clinging to identity which is our way of belonging to a group. And if we identify with a group of any dimension narrower than all humanity, there must then be others who, by definition, do not belong and to whom, we may believe at least unconsciously, we are superior. That superiority makes us feel entitled to judge, and to remain indifferent.

Preventing and healing trauma is a universal issue, not restricted to any one class or any particular ethnic or racial grouping. In fact, as I get to know more about Native ways I am often struck by the thought that we hurt ourselves when we dismiss cultures whose core teachings and values, if appreciated by modern society, could help heal our world.

Fasces, Fascism, and How the Alt-Right Continues to Appropriate Ancient Roman Symbols
The fasces were often used in architecture as well. For example, the façade of the Exhibition of the Fascist Revolution or in numerous examples of the Casa Littoria (Fascist party headquarters) in various towns — most of which are still standing.

As Baxa tells us, Mussolini’s monogram (often enshrined in mosaic) combined an “M” with the fasces. He minted coins and commissioned numerous reliefs that used the sticks. In each case, the fasces served as a visual argument for his own authority by referencing both Italian history and the long history of the ancient Roman fasces as a symbol of legitimate and necessary force.

When James Alex Fields and the other white nationalists at the “Unite the Right” rally gathered with shields bearing the Roman fasces with an axe, the message of legitimate force was again visible. Like the use of SPQR or the appropriation of torches, all of these adopted symbols may look like harmless references to the past, but this particular iconography is historically tied to violence. If Italian Fascism has taught us anything, it is that the appropriation of ancient history provides these groups with a false origin story and a sense of authority to use violence that they cannot rightly claim and should never be given.
