What could go wrong after hundreds of years of artificially suppressing natural wildfires, which occur with great regularity if there is no interference from people? The record loss of global tree cover in 2016 — totaling around 297,000 square kilometers (114,672 square miles) and representing a rise of 51% on 2015 — was driven partly by increasingly common wildfires driven by rising temperatures and drought, according to the Global Forest Watch (GFW) which utilized data provided by the University of Maryland.
“We saw quite a dramatic spike in 2016,” stated Mikaela Weisse, a research analyst at the US think-tank World Resources Institute, which oversees GFW. “That seems to be related to forest fires in countries including Brazil, Indonesia and Portugal.”

It is not healthy to breathe in wood or any other kind of smoke.
These days, many forests are also radioactively contaminated with heavy metal radioactive poisons because of the emissions from all fossil fuel burning, plus the emissions from nuclear plants, on top of the poisons released by nuclear tests/nuclear plant melt downs. As toxic heavy metal radioactive poisons are released into the air, they travel all around the world, eventually settling into the water and ground. Then plants or trees take up these poisonous heavy metal poisons. When fire burns these plants, these same toxic heavy metal, radioactive poisons are released inside the smoke and travel downwind.
When the trees and grass burns, it releases this radioactive heavy metal poison which travels inside of the smoke. Today, it is even more important to not breathe in this smoke whenever possible.

WHAT YOU CAN DO; USE A MERV 13 OR HIGHER NUMBER AIR FILTER TO GET RID OF SMOKE ODOR AND SMALL PARTICLES IN THE AIR
Filter all air when forest fire smoke gets visible, or your lungs will do the same job, and be exposed to everything in that smoke, including radioactive heavy metal poisons.These filters will reduce the number or toxin or radioactive particles floating around in the interior air by a huge number. The less your lungs have to deal with in terms of toxins and radioactive particles, the better.
Get a high quality furnace filter. Cover the intake side of a window box fan with this filter and filter the air when smoke gets visible outside in the summertime. Use a MERV 13 or higher number air filter. Any lower number filter will not be able to filter out the smaller smoke particles.
Or use an charcoal impregnated air filtration device that also has a negative ion generator built in. Turn both parts of this air cleaning device on and keep the filter going for as long as smoke is in the air.
Notice that air filters in the store will have a variety of MERV numbers on them. Purchase only the MERV 13 filters, which are designed to filter out smoke particles. Lower number filters allow the smoke to go through the filter, resulting in a smoke smelling indoor environment.

WHAT YOU CAN DO; USE A P95 RESPIRATOR WHEN YOU ARE OUTDOORS AND THE AIR GETS SMOKY OR POLLUTED
When the air is smoky enough to see the smoke in the atmosphere, use a P95 air respirator, preferably one with charcoal impregnated in it and an exhale valve. A painter's mask just won't cut it. Make sure that the respirator filter has TWO elastic bands on it, so that they create an effective seal to the face.
Check with your medical professional to make sure that you have no health conditions that prevent you from wearing a mask.
Never put a mask on a two year old or younger child/infant/baby, unless a medical doctor is directly supervising this inside of a medical facility.
Anything less than a P95 respirator allows too much smoke plus toxic materials through it.
WHAT YOU CAN DO; IF YOU NEED FRESH OUTDOOR AIR, IT IS SMOKY OUTSIDE AND YOU DON'T HAVE AN AC SYSTEM, USE THIS BOX FAN PLUS AIR FILTER
Directions for a DIY smoke cleaning air filter at low cost.
