U.S. military spending has doubled since the U.S. invaded Afghanistan, yet the Congressional Progressive Caucus budget this year proposed to cut it by a grand total of 1 percent and didn't even mention that in any of its statements about its budget.
The rest of the world spends about another trillion dollars all together. So the average among about 200 other countries is about a half a percent of what the U.S. spends.
If the United States, for whatever cockamamie reason, felt obliged to comply with a "human nature" that included the rest of the, you know, humans, it would be compelled to reduce its military by 99.5 percent. And if it did that, I'd be glad to let it defend its behavior with whatever language it wanted.
By the way, if you did the calculation based on per-capita military spending the reduction for the U.S. to meet the rest of the world's average would be similarly extreme. The U.S. spends about $3,135 per person per year, and the rest of the world's average is about $143, meaning about a 95 percent cut is neede in the military budget, so the U.S. can start acting human.

This will document that the ‘new Cold War’ between the US and Russia did not start, as the Western myth has it, with Russia’s involvement in the breakaway of Crimea and Donbass from Ukraine, after Ukraine — next door to Russia — had suddenly turned rabidly hostile toward Russia in February 2014. Ukraine’s replacing its democratically elected neutralist Government in February 2014, by a rabidly anti-Russian Government, was a violent event, which produced many corpses. It’s presented in The West as having been a ‘revolution’ instead of a coup; but whatever it was, it certainly generated the ‘new Cold War’ (the economic sanctions and NATO buildup on Russia’s borders); and, to know whether it was a coup, or instead a revolution, is to know what actually started the ‘new Cold War’, and why. So, this is historically very important.
Incontrovertible proofs will be presented here not only that it was a coup, but that this coup was organized by the US Government — that the US Government initiated the ‘new Cold War’; Russia’s Government reacted to America’s aggression, which aims to place nuclear missiles in Ukraine, less than ten minutes flight-time from Moscow. During the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis, America had reason to fear Soviet nuclear missiles 103 miles from America’s border. But, after America’s Ukrainian coup in 2014, Russia has reason to fear NATO nuclear missiles not just near, but on, Russia’s border. That would be catastrophic.
If America’s successful February 2014 overthrow and replacement of Ukraine’s democratically elected neutralist Government doesn’t soon produce a world-ending nuclear war (World War III), then there will be historical accounts of that overthrow, and the accounts are already increasingly trending and consolidating toward a historical consensus that it was a coup — that it was imposed by “somebody from the new coalition” — i.e., that the termination of the then-existing democratic (though like all its predecessors, corrupt) Ukrainian Government, wasn’t authentically a ‘revolution’ such as the US Government has contended, and certainly wasn’t at all democratic, but was instead a coup (and a very bloody one, at that), and totally illegal (though backed by The West).
Today the chosen US target nations are those countries that have oil, gold or other resources which huge globalist corporations can steal, acquire or control, like Ukraine for example. Thousands of protestors across the UK joined the No to War in Ukraine Global Day of Action yesterday. The whole country was covered in protest with over 50 events taking place over the weekend from the Isle of Wight to Aberdeen – thank you to everyone who joined their local protest!
The huge day of events reflects the widespread desire for peace in the Ukraine amongst the British public with a ceasefire and the withdrawal of all Russian troops top of the demands throughout the demonstrations and vigils. A recognition of the dangers of any nuclear conflict was also at the forefront of people’s minds, as was an understanding that NATO’s aggressive expansion over the past 30 years has also played a role in sparking the current conflict.
Stop the War Convenor, Lindsey German, said the conflict in Ukraine reminded her of the ‘sickness and horror’ of the Vietnam War – the first war she protested against in a lifetime of anti-war activity. She went on to remind the crowd that the current conflict hasn’t just begun in the last few weeks but has its origins in the post-Cold War world where the wars in the former Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Iraq and the bombing of Libya have helped create the conditions that have led to Russia’s invasion. She concluded by stating that ‘the anti-war movement is not going to take lessons from our government in how to fight for peace’ and that Stop the War ‘will continue to fight for a just peace for everyone across the world’.

According to its findings, two of the offshore companies belonging to Zelenskyy’s partners were used to buy three lavish properties in central London.
The Pandora Papers are the latest in a series of mass ICIJ leaks of financial documents, from LuxLeaks in 2014, to the 2016 Panama Papers, which triggered the resignation of the prime minister of Iceland and paved the way for the forced resignation of the leader of Pakistan.
They were followed by the Paradise Papers in 2017 and FinCen files in 2020.

Any person that tried to resist the draft, retreat, run away or quit on the battlefield was shot or executed by firing squad, often on the spot, with no jury, judge or trial.

If there were no profit in war or killing, there would be no more wars or killings.
Things have evolved in the US as far as military service. There is no more draft. If soldier volunteers quit after signing up, they may face a jail term, but not a firing squad. Huge profits are still made via war, but now those profits are made by taking over governments via huge corporations, who then control the politicians, who vote for never ending wars, and never ending war profits.

There is plenty of hope globally, as the evidence shows that conscription and forced military service is dropping globally. Resistance to the military industrial complex is growing via pacifists, conscientious objectors and resistance to the draft, in those countries that still have this.
The US military industrial complex now depends solely on volunteers and cash payments, plus a privatized for profit mercenary complex that is now much larger than the actual volunteer military force. The amount of money going to the military overall has been growing steadily despite no active war anywhere, and the Cold War being over.

Part of the history of the US is that it had a draft and forced young men to go to war and act as fodder for the war machine, which depends on huge no bid profiteering to make dark money off of killing, bombing and causing suffering for millions of people.
The counter culture to forced drafting of young people into the war machine ended up creating a resistance to this draft and banning it completely.
Before the draft was outlawed, various methods were employed by those resisting the draft, including moving out of the country, out of the reach of the draft board and the military industrial complex.

HISTORY OF DRAFT RESISTANCE; QUAKERS AND OTHER PACIFISTS ESTABLISHED WHOLE COMMUNITIES, SUCH AS MONTEVERDE IN COSTA RICA
Where some of the pacifists went in order to avoid being forced into war is Costa Rica. In this country, a group of these pacifist Quakers established the town of Monteverde.
Wikipedia; "What is now considered Monteverde was founded by Quakers from the United States whose pacifist values led them to defy the American draft before the Korean War.[3] The majority of the group hailed from Fairhope, Alabama, and it included people who were not Quakers but pacifists and conscientious objectors. The population of the Monteverde community has between 250 to 750 residents, of whom about 50 are Quaker.[8] The more developed Costa Rican-dominated town of Santa Elena has 6,500 permanent residents as of the most recent census.
WHAT IS A WAR RESISTER?
A war resister is a person who resists war. The term can mean several things: resisting participation in all war, or a specific war, either before or after enlisting in, being inducted into, or being conscripted into a military force.
History, evolution and etymology of the term
Early usage of the term "war resister" is found in the name of the War Resisters League which was formed in 1923 by men and women who had opposed World War I. The War Resisters League is a section of the London-based War Resisters' International which was originally founded in Bilthoven, Netherlands in 1921 under the name "Paco".
In 2008 and 2009, the Parliament of Canada officially adopted the term "war resister" to include those who are not necessarily opposed to all war, but who selectively refused to participate in the Iraq War.[1][2] This practice was also adopted by various media in Canada at various times.[3][4][5][6][7]
In 1975, the Committee on South African War Resistance, an organisation of exiled conscientious objectors, pacifists, anti-militarists and deserters from the South African Defence Force (SADF), was formed in the aftermath of South Africa’s invasion of Angola and the Soweto uprising the following year. Its aim was to raise international awareness about the role of the SADF and to provide support to objectors in exile.
On January 24, 2010, the term "War Resisters" was the name of a nine-minute documentary on Global Television Network television program 16:9 (TV series). Carolyn Jarvis interviewed war resisters Robin Long and Rodney Watson, and Canadian Member of Parliament Gerard Kennedy on his Bill C-440 regarding Iraq war resisters in Canada.[8]
On November 9, 2010, Canadian writer Peter Smollett referred to people opposing World War I as "war resisters." Among the people he mentioned were Albert Goodwin and Siegfried Sassoon.[9]
Terminology and semantics of the term
War resisters have been referred to using various related terms: "deserter", "conscientious objector", or "refugee". However, it is important to recognize that each of those terms has a very specific meaning in legal English, whereas each of those terms carries a broader semantic meaning in Standard English.
Legal English
International law
In international law, specifically the Handbook on Procedures and Criteria for Determining Refugee Status of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), there is discussion of "refugee status after desertion" as being legitimate under international law. The Handbook states:
“171. Not every conviction, genuine though it may be, will constitute a sufficient reason for claiming refugee status after desertion or draft-evasion. It is not enough for a person to be in disagreement with his government regarding the political justification for a particular military action. Where, however, the type of military action, with which an individual does not wish to be associated, is condemned by the international community as contrary to basic rules of human conduct, punishment for desertion or draft-evasion could, in the light of all other requirements of the definition, in itself be regarded as persecution.”[10]
Canadian law
The federal law-making body of Canada is the Parliament of Canada. The term "war resister" is used in the official documents of the Parliament of Canada: On November 22, 2007, a Canadian Parliamentary Committee "commenced its study of Iraq war resisters"[11] This Committee work resulted in a motion which also used the term "war resisters"[2] and which was passed twice by the Canadian House of Commons: on June 3, 2008 and on March 30, 2009. After the motion passed the first time, the media began to use the term "war resister," also.[3][4][5][6][7][12][13]
There was some controversy when the Canadian Supreme Court refused to hear the appeals of two American army deserters, Jeremy Hinzman and Brandon Hughey, whose requests for refugee status were denied. Both had deserted to Canada in 2004 after learning they were to be deployed to Iraq. The high court, as usual, gave no reasons for its refusal.[14]
Earlier the Federal Court and the Federal Court of Appeal upheld the Immigration and Refugee Board (IRB) findings that the two did not qualify as Convention refugees.[15] Both faced court martial and up to five years in jail as deserters if returned. Lawyer Faisal Kutty argued that the IRB and the court appear to have danced around the politically sensitive issues and existing case law. Their arguments that they did not want to participate in an illegal war and that they would be punished for acting on their conscience was rejected by the IRB. The adjudicators held that they were not conscientious objectors (because they were not opposed to wars in general); the U.S. was willing and able to protect them; and that their treatment would not amount to persecution.
Paragraph 171 of UN Handbook on Procedures and Criteria for Determining Convention Refugee Status provides that where the type of military action with which an individual does not wish to be associated is condemned by the international legal community as contrary to rules of human conduct, punishment for desertion could be regarded as persecution.[15]
In denying both claims, the adjudicators opined that the legal status of the war in Iraq had no bearing on the analysis of paragraph 171. This determination was one of the issues on which the matters were appealed to the Federal Court, but Justice Anne Mactavish, noted in separate decisions (Hughey v. Canada [2006] F.C. 421 and Hinzman v. Canada [2006] F.C. 420) that this question was not an issue before her and did not have to be decided.[15]
The duo’s lawyer, Jeffrey House, says the decisions at both levels were also based on the erroneous view that American jurisprudence gives war resisters the right to seek a remedy if they question the legality of a war. In fact, he argues that this is not true. The leading case on the “political questions doctrine” which revolves around whether people can challenge the legality of war based on their conscience and international law was turned down by the United States Supreme Court in Callan v. Bush. Given this situation, the U.S. is not in a position to provide protection to resisters, notes House. House himself was a war resister.[15]
The existing case law from the Federal Court of Appeal, Al-Maisri v. Canada [1995] F.C. J. No. 642, appears on point and yet was rejected by Justice Mactavish as being of “limited assistance.” The case involved a Yemeni who was denied status by the IRB. Al-Maisri acknowledged he was prepared to fight for Yemen to protect it from aggression, but was not prepared to fight for Iraq against Kuwait. Yemen was an Iraqi supporter. The Court of Appeal held that “non-defensive incursion into foreign territory” was within the ambit of paragraph 171 and overturned the IRB decision. “What is wrong for Saddam Hussein should be wrong for the Americans as well,” says House, a Vietnam-era draft dodger.[15]
Justice Mactavish held that the legality of the conflict is irrelevant when analyzing paragraph 171 when “one is considering the claim of a low-level ‘foot soldier’.” Yet, Al-Maisri was also a ‘foot soldier.’ Justice Mactavish admitted that “given the decision of the Court of Appeal in Al-Maisri, it is fair to say that the issue is not entirely free from doubt,” and proceeded to certify this question, which gave the two an automatic right of appeal to the Court of Appeal.[15]
Authorities in Canada and the U.S closely monitored the politically sensitive case. Indeed, the case became the proverbial public relations “hot potato” for the U.S. At the initial hearing, a former U.S. Marine testifying in Hinzman’s support stated that American soldiers in Iraq routinely violated international law by killing unarmed civilians, including women and children. Affidavits from two international law professors confirming the illegality of the war and reports from Human Rights Watch and the International Committee of the Red Cross documenting the abuses and violations were also filed.[15

Why is the mass media so focused on promoting more 'illegal' wars and not on dismantling armies and weapons of mass destruction? Humanity needs to focus on moving forward and evolving, not on going backwards into the 'good old days'. Change is constant and never ending, even inside religions.
Pacifists have accomplished a lot over the 2,000 years since Christ appeared. Pacifists have sacrificed a lot. Pacifists are all of the millions of civilians who are slaughtered at a rate of 10 to every 1 soldier killed in a 'just' war. Pacifists are slaughtered because they choose to not defend themselves or their families and die rather than commit murder. Who else serves as a role model like this historically?
A world war is not possible any more, because the consequence of a world war is that all nuclear weapons are used. No one can live through a mutually assured destruction (MAD) war where thousands of nuclear bombs are used globally.
As a result, no nuclear weapons can be used any longer because using even one, will more than likely trigger the use of all of them. The consequences of a nuclear war and what happens after that are detailed in the article below, going into what happens to 430 nuclear plant spent fuel pools, in an Armageddon scenario..
Each spent fuel pool contains the equivalent of 1,000 nuclear bombs worth of radiation. Multiply 430 spent fuel pools globally times 1,000 nuclear bombs, on top of the thousands of nuclear bombs released initially and you get the idea of what would happen.
If (God forbid) a nuclear war ever happened, a nuclear winter would follow. Combine huge amounts of radiation, an almost instant Ice Age, and contamination of anything left living with increasing amounts of toxic heavy metal radiation, and you have a scenario that more than likely means the extinction of all living things on Earth.
Add this source of deadly atomic radiation of this to the dental, medical, research labs, and industrial sources of radiation, all of which would be opened up to the environment in case of a nuclear or even an extended regular war.
Each small civilian radiation source such as a dental xray machine can become a dirty bomb on it's own, without a nuclear weapon causing any destruction. Just one destroyed dental xray machine will make a large city uninhabitable. Releasing all of those tens to hundreds of thousands of radiation sources on top of a nuclear bomb just makes things that much worse.
Looking at the consequences of war and nuclear war on humanity, the only reasonable conclusion is that war is immoral, unethical and not possible. War was banned by international agreement for a reason, and it was a very good reason.
Countries, religions, political parties and individuals must now learn the way of peace instead of war. Pacifism is the only logical conclusion that all churches, religions and politicians should be reaching at this point in time. There is a gift inside of any challenge or problem.
Almost all Holy Books predict a Golden Age of 1,000 years of peace.. This is the time. This is the gift. It is always darkest before the dawn. But to reach it, church leaders have to declare it, set a goal and work for it.
The Quakers were prominent advocates of pacifism, who as early as 1660 had repudiated violence in all forms and adhered to a strictly pacifist interpretation of Christianity. They stated their beliefs in a declaration to King Charles II:
"We utterly deny all outward wars and strife, and fightings with outward weapons, for any end, or under any pretense whatever; this is our testimony to the whole world. The Spirit of Christ . . . which leads us into all truth, will never move us to fight and war against any man with outward weapons, neither for the kingdom of Christ, nor for the kingdoms of this world.[32]
Throughout the many 18th century wars in which Britain participated, the Quakers maintained a principled commitment not to serve in the army and militia or even to pay the alternative £10 fine.
The English Quaker William Penn, who founded the Province of Pennsylvania, employed an anti-militarist public policy. Unlike residents of many of the colonies, Quakers chose to trade peacefully with the Indians, including for land. The colonial province was, for the 75 years from 1681 to 1756, essentially unarmed and experienced little or no warfare in that period.
From the 16th to the 18th centuries, a number of thinkers devised plans for an international organisation that would promote peace, and reduce or even eliminate the occurrence of war. These included the French politician Duc de Sully, the philosophers Émeric Crucé and the Abbe de Saint-Pierre, and the English Quakers William Penn and John Bellers.[33][34] (This ended up coming to pass, with the formation of the United Nations, which was set up to talk through things, instead of resorting to war immediately.)

The progressive church must not fall prey to sins of the traditional church in either approving of or remaining silent during the build up to war. As Howard Zinn documented so well, warfare is usually economically motivated and not a moral enterprise.
War inevitably punishes the victims of tyrants more than it punishes tyrants. Taking Eisenhower's warnings about the power of the military industrial complex seriously, we must work to intelligently plan for peace and make open warfare no longer necessary.

If people are provided with adequate education, jobs, food, rights and basic needs, most people will not go to war. Now that war has been made illegal, no nation should be making, exporting, selling or trading weapons of any kind. All standing armies should be disbanded.
Do you know what people who don't have special access to the "will of God" called and still call slavery, torture, capital punishment, and numerous other evils? That's right, "human nature." And if two people disagree about the will of god or the content of human nature they can appeal to exactly the same evidence to settle their dispute, namely nothing whatsoever -- except either an agreement to disagree or the violent removal of the person disagreeing with one's claim. We've reached a point, of course, at which continuing with war risks the existence of humanity. The twin dangers of nuclear apocalypse and climate chaos are advanced more by war than anything else. The primary way in which war kills is by diverting massive resources away from where they could do good, including the good of environmental protection. In addition war is, in some ways, our top destroyer of the environment. On top of which wars are fought for the fuels that we use to destroy the environment. And in addition, the proliferation of nuclear energy and weaponry and the increasing ease of robotic war increases dramatically the risk of war destroying us all before the climate can.

The United States is far and away the world's leading supplier of war weapons, buyer of war weapons, user or war weapons and all around facilitator of war. Ninety five percent of humanity is governed by governments that don't have anything remotely like the U.S. investment in war. Many countries invest between 0 and 5 percent what the United States does in war. But if you ask an American why they can't reduce the militarism a bit, they'll tell you it's "human nature." See, the other 95% of humanity is not really part of "human nature." "Human nature" turns out to be American nature. You find this same phenomenon across issues. No other country destroys the natural environment, at least on a per capita basis, remotely like the United States. But the waste and consumption are defended or accepted as "human nature."The United States spends over a trillion dollars a year on war preparations, about $1.3 trillion in fact, which is exactly what U.S. students and former students owe in total accumulated student debt which is understood to be an outrageous and massive crisis, yet it's what Congress spends on war preparations each year...."

MOVING TOWARDS A GLOBAL AND SUSTAINABLE ETHIC, USING THE SCIENCE OF SUSTAINABLE HEALTH
The world has been moving slowly and surely towards the elimination of war and the banning of all weapons of mass destruction. The international agreement banning war is proof of that. The United Nations is also proof that the world values peace above war, because it was set up to PREVENT another world war, through diplomacy and non violent peaceful conflict resolution methods, instead of violence. Why are the governments of the world not talking about peace?Why is the mass media so focused on promoting more 'illegal' wars and not on dismantling armies and weapons of mass destruction? Humanity needs to focus on moving forward and evolving, not on going backwards into the 'good old days'. Change is constant and never ending, even inside religions.
Pacifists have accomplished a lot over the 2,000 years since Christ appeared. Pacifists have sacrificed a lot. Pacifists are all of the millions of civilians who are slaughtered at a rate of 10 to every 1 soldier killed in a 'just' war. Pacifists are slaughtered because they choose to not defend themselves or their families and die rather than commit murder. Who else serves as a role model like this historically?
WORLD WAR IS NO LONGER POSSIBLE, NUCLEAR WEAPONS CAN NEVER BE USED, MELTING OUT SPENT FUEL POOLS WOULD MEAN END OF ALL LIFE ON EARTH
A world war is not possible any more, because the consequence of a world war is that all nuclear weapons are used. No one can live through a mutually assured destruction (MAD) war where thousands of nuclear bombs are used globally.
As a result, no nuclear weapons can be used any longer because using even one, will more than likely trigger the use of all of them. The consequences of a nuclear war and what happens after that are detailed in the article below, going into what happens to 430 nuclear plant spent fuel pools, in an Armageddon scenario..
Each spent fuel pool contains the equivalent of 1,000 nuclear bombs worth of radiation. Multiply 430 spent fuel pools globally times 1,000 nuclear bombs, on top of the thousands of nuclear bombs released initially and you get the idea of what would happen.
NUCLEAR SUBS AND ATOMIC SHIPS PLUS MEDICAL RADIATION POSES SEVERE RISK IN CASE OF EVEN LIMITED NUCLEAR WAR
Imagine the nuclear reactors in 1,000 nuclear powered ships and subs melting down and releasing their radioactive contents into the world, during a nuclear war when they are all destroyed by whatever enemy forces.Add this source of deadly atomic radiation of this to the dental, medical, research labs, and industrial sources of radiation, all of which would be opened up to the environment in case of a nuclear or even an extended regular war.
Each small civilian radiation source such as a dental xray machine can become a dirty bomb on it's own, without a nuclear weapon causing any destruction. Just one destroyed dental xray machine will make a large city uninhabitable. Releasing all of those tens to hundreds of thousands of radiation sources on top of a nuclear bomb just makes things that much worse.
Looking at the consequences of war and nuclear war on humanity, the only reasonable conclusion is that war is immoral, unethical and not possible. War was banned by international agreement for a reason, and it was a very good reason.
Countries, religions, political parties and individuals must now learn the way of peace instead of war. Pacifism is the only logical conclusion that all churches, religions and politicians should be reaching at this point in time. There is a gift inside of any challenge or problem.
Almost all Holy Books predict a Golden Age of 1,000 years of peace.. This is the time. This is the gift. It is always darkest before the dawn. But to reach it, church leaders have to declare it, set a goal and work for it.
AMERICA IS NOW SEEN AS THE BIGGEST THREAT TO WORLD PEACE, DUE TO IT'S OBSESSIVE MILITARISM AND PROVOCATIVE ACTIONS
When Gallup polled 65 nations at the end of 2013, and asked what nation was the greatest threat to peace in the world, the overwhelming winner was the United States. I recommend pointing that poll out to people. It seems to me you either have to declare the world severely and irrationally deluded, perhaps requiring yet more militarism. Or you have to begin opening your eyes to the failure of militarism on its own terms, at which point you can notice that the United States loses all of its land wars, exacerbates whatever it claims to be fixing with its air wars, and plants seeds of evil with its drone wars -- and countless recently retired U.S. officials admit all this.
PACIFISM AS SUSTAINABLE POLICY AND RULE IN ALL CHURCHES, RELIGIONS AND NATIONS

From the 16th to the 18th centuries, a number of thinkers devised plans for an international organisation that would promote peace, and reduce or even eliminate the occurrence of war. These included the French politician Duc de Sully, the philosophers Émeric Crucé and the Abbe de Saint-Pierre, and the English Quakers William Penn and John Bellers.[33][34] (This ended up coming to pass, with the formation of the United Nations, which was set up to talk through things, instead of resorting to war immediately.)
Pacifist ideals emerged from two strands of thought that coalesced at the end of the 18th century. SUMMARY
Join with AGR in helping to wake up humanity in time, before the military industrial complex takes out the whole world with a gigantic love fest of global nuclear war. There have been over 20 close calls, so it is just a matter of time.
Unless humanity gets rid of nuclear weapons and war, war and nuclear weapons will get rid of humans on Earth. Peace, love, truth and harmony is the only enduring cause and battle that is worth fighting for. Commit to the fight, and let's take the hill.
There is no 'justifiable' war.
Every prayer is answered and every deeply held desire is eventually experienced in the long term in some form or fashion. Because so many people have prayed for world peace for so long, and so deeply, it will happen. The birth of world peace will come from the inside, not the outside. No treaty will be signed to signify when it happens, and no world leaders will meet to set it up.
Someday soon, world peace will be, and it will be known as the Oneness. The destiny of humanity is assured, and war will not be the way it is accomplished. Those who believe war is the way to solve any problem are sadly mistaken, despite their best intentions and beliefs.
Those who believe Armageddon will solve any problems are also deluded, as it just destroys everything and everyone. Armageddon is not a thing to work for or hurry up, for any misguided reason. Fatalism is also not the answer, because that is giving up, completely.
