Slavery Still Legal In 20 US States - Top 10 US Political Prisoners - Political Prisoners Around The World/US - Internment of Japanese Americans In Concentration Camps - US Citizens Held As Political Prisoners - Fascist Corporations/Billionaires Bribe Politicians To Profit Off Of 'Legal' Slaves

DID YOU KNOW THAT PRIVATE FOR PROFIT PRISONS ARE A HUGE GROWTH INDUSTRY IN THE US, AND THAT THOSE ARE LEGALIZED SLAVERY? DID YOU KNOW SLAVERY IS LEGAL IN 20 US STATES AS OF 2019?

ROOTSACTION: "Twenty U.S. states' constitutions, including the Constitution of California, contain the same shortcoming found in the Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. They permit slavery, or in the case of Louisiana, "involuntary servitude," as punishment for a crime.

Until recently, Colorado had the same problem, but Colorado has amended its Constitution to ban slavery. Period. No exceptions. California can do the same.1

Banning slavery is not simply a formality. U.S. prisons market the labor of prisoners and have created financial incentives to maintain that labor force. While prisoners may benefit from training, and may prefer employment to doing nothing, they and society as a whole do not benefit from labor without a living wage, labor without workers' rights, labor that undermines others' wages, and labor that creates motivations to keep more people in prison longer.

That's slavery.

Let's end it.

Paying prisoners for their labor enables them not only to better provide for themselves while in prison, but also to pay bills and unpaid court fees that may have landed many of them in prison in the first place. Compensating prisoners for their labor through a legitimate "Work Time" system that reduces their sentence grants hardworking prisoners the opportunity to be reviewed early by parole boards -- which also helps state taxpayers.

As a constituent, I urge you to take immediate action to amend our state constitution to ban slavery and involuntary servitude as punishment for a crime, and in all circumstances. While Colorado has amended its Constitution to ban slavery entirely, our state lags behind. Our current Constitution protects and promotes the legal exploitation of people’s labor and human dignity and should be amended immediately.

TRUMP'S FIRST POLITICAL PRISONER AND SHE WILL SURELY NOT BE HIS LAST

Every President since Kennedy has had their political prisoners thrown into jail, and Trump is no exception. His first political prisoner is a very brave young lady by the name of Rachel Jackson. Have you heard of her? If not, why not?

Rachel Jackson 2017  Reality Winner is Trump's first blatantly political prisoner, awaiting a precedent setting, Orwellian trial next year. #FreeRealityWinner #Whistleblowers #PoliticalPrisoner #StandWithReality

Reality Leigh Winner is a whistleblower being held without bail for helping expose Russian hacking efforts leading up to the 2016 US election. Charged under the Espionage Act for sending a classified NSA document to the media, she faces 10 years in prison. She is the first victim of the Trump Administration’s “war on leakers.” Her trial is currently scheduled to begin March 19, 2018 in Augusta, Georgia.

When telling the truth in order to save the country from a traitorous despot lands you in prison, what kind of country is that?

LIST OF POLITICAL PRISONERS HELD IN US PRISONS

More Political Prisoners in the USA

This is a list of individuals who are currently incarcerated in the U.S, are targets because of their actions threatening US imperial power, and who were imprisoned for their political activity. AfGJ considers them political prisoners and “Prisoners of Empire”. Please see the notes at the bottom of the page regarding Guantanamo Bay, immigrant detention, and mass incarceration. We want to acknowledge Stan Smith and the Chicago Committee to Free the Five (773-376-7521, uscubachi@yahoo.com) for initiating this project and compiling the original list in 2013.

We need your help. This list is an ongoing draft. If you see any mistakes, persons who should be listed who are not included, have updates on the status of political prisoners or have any other questions or comments, please send them to nasim@AFGJ.org.

CRAPITALISM; A CORRUPT AND CRIMINAL POLITICAL SYSTEM THAT THEN REQUIRES POLITICAL PRISONERS AND SLAVES WORKING FOR FREE IN FOR PROFIT PRIVATIZED PRISON INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX

Wayne Myerson OK...here's the new and improved definition of CRAPITALI$M which changes A CORRUPT POLITICAL SYSTEM to A CORRUPT AND CRIMINAL POLITICAL SYSTEM. It appropriately takes it to the next level where those charged are POLITICAL CRIMINALS and those victimized are POLITICAL PRISONERS.

The political system in the US has gotten so fraud filled and corrupt, that there is very little citizen input anymore. Almost 100 percent of the political system is now controlled by huge corporations and/or foreign nations, like Saudi Arabia, Israel and Russia. When corporations and foreign nations control what a government does, while the citizens of that country are ignored, what kind of country is that? Of course, anyone who tries to expose this corrupt system is labeled fake news and/or is tossed into prison as a political prisoner, like Reality Leigh Winner.

Top ten political prisoners for 2015 in the USA

America has a lot of political prisoners you've never heard about, many of them locked away for revealing the crimes of the US government, and/or of huge corporations that rule from in the shadows, behind the politicians.

Chelsea Manning was one of those prisoners, for revealing what the military industrial complex did not want anyone to know... they were spying on everyone, including allies and US citizens.

CORPORATIONS RULE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT, BUY NATIONAL ELECTIONS AND OWN MOST POLITICIANS

The US government at this point is now little more than a 'false front' for huge corporations that dictate what is done or 'not allowed', including going after individuals or groups that don't agree with huge corporations and what they are doing, or not doing in their never ending quest for short term profit, at any cost, using the Dualopoly as their Matrix machine to accomplish their never ending war goals.

Real debate and real choice is not allowed. Anyone brave enough to try and break into the Matrix is shackled or jailed, including Presidential candidates.

Political prisoners are more common in America than most people believe.

Anyone who watches mass media as a source of information about current events and global affairs is being sadly misled and propagandized. AMERICAN POLITICAL PRISONERS IN HISTORY AND TODAY; McCARTHYISM

Wikipedia; "McCarthyism is the practice of making accusations of subversion or treason without proper regard for evidence. It also means "the practice of making unfair allegations or using unfair investigative techniques, especially in order to restrict dissent or political criticism."[1]

The term has its origins in the period in the United States known as the Second Red Scare, lasting roughly from 1950 to 1956 and characterized by heightened political repression againstcommunists, as well as a campaign spreading fear of their influence on American institutions and of espionage by Soviet agents. Originally coined to criticize the anti-communist pursuits of Republican U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy of Wisconsin, "McCarthyism" soon took on a broader meaning, describing the excesses of similar efforts.

The term is also now used more generally to describe reckless, unsubstantiated accusations, as well as demagogic attacks on the character or patriotism of political adversaries.

Thousands of people lost their jobs, were blacklisted, or ended up in jail as political prisoners during the McCarthy Red Scare period. To some extent this is still happening today. If you are the 'wrong' religion, or you don't know the right people politically or financially, you stand no chance of getting elected in certain districts, even if you have broad popular support for your positions.

THIRD PARTIES IN AMERICA ARE LITTLE MORE THAN POLITICAL PRISONERS, SHUT OUT OF ELECTIONS, MASS MEDIA AND GRANTED 'HOUSE ARREST' PRIVILEGES

Third parties in the US are being held political prisoners, because laws have been passed by the Dualopoly, making it almost impossible to win any election. Corporations own and control the Dualopoly, through massive amounts of money poured into elections, and an army of lobbyists in Washington, plus ALEC on the back side.

JAPANESE INTERNMENT CAMPS HELD 120,000 POLITICAL PRISONERS FOR YEARS INSIDE THE US

Wikipedia; "The internment of Japanese Americans in the United States was the forced relocation and incarceration during World War II of between 110,000 and 120,000[2] people ofJapanese ancestry who lived on the Pacific coast in camps in the interior of the country. Sixty-two percent of the internees were United States citizens.[3][4] The U.S. government ordered the removal of Japanese Americans in 1942, shortly after Imperial Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor.[5]

Such incarceration was applied unequally due to differing population concentrations and, more importantly, state and regional politics: more than 110,000 Japanese Americans, nearly all who lived on the West Coast, were forced into interior camps, but in Hawaii, where the 150,000-plus Japanese Americans comprised over one-third of the population, only 1,200 to 1,800 were interned.[6] The forced relocation and incarceration has been determined to have resulted more from racism and discrimination among whites on the West Coast, rather than any military danger posed by the Japanese Americans."

US GOVERNMENT CONTINUES LONG TRADITION - PRESIDENT OBAMA REFUSED TO PARDON POLITICAL PRISONERS

There is a long tradition of US presidents refusing to pardon political prisoners and whistle blowers, but criminal presidents who have been impeached along with their henchmen are easily and quickly pardoned, every time.

One issue shadowing America's human rights record is the existence of political prisoners in the US Civil rights lawyers argue political prisoners are in direct violation of articles 8, 9 and 10 of the Universal UN Declaration on Human Rights. US President Barack Obama recently granted clemency to nine men and women who committed for low level offenses such a forgery, drug possession and even mutilating coins. Most of them never spend time in jail or prison. Human rights advocates insist the pardons were misguided given reports that many US prisoners are either wrongfully convicted, over sentenced or legally trapped by the criminal justice system. Such is the case of America's political prisoners.

US PRIVATE AND FEDERAL PRISON INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX, MORE PEOPLE IN PRISON IN US PER CAPITA THAN ANY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD

Today, there are many political prisoners in American jails, more than just about any other country on Earth, per capita.

US Incarceration Rate, Prison Mistakes, Prison Reform, Restorative Justice As Alternative, Decarcaration, Restorative Justice

The political imprisonment of millions of people is obvious when one compares the number of people in jail in the US, compared to any other civilized country.

Why would the US (a supposedly very free, friendly, open and democratic country) have more people in prison per capita, than even Russia or Communist China?

RACE IS A STRONG ELEMENT OF THE AMERICAN PRISON INDUSTRIAL SYSTEM

American history is full of political prisoners, like black slaves and native americans. Today, the negative impact of that violent, repressive, Apartheid history is still evident, via racism, bigotry and the support of politicians that are openly racist and bigoted, like Trump, Sessions and others like them.

AMERICAN INDIANS INSIDE THE US ARE BEING HELD ON RESERVATIONS AS POLITICAL PRISONERS

American Indians originally 'owned' the Americas, but it was illegally taken away from them by force, via a 'settling' process. In effect, American Indians are the legal owners and everyone else is an illegal immigrant. Bottom line, Indian reservations are political forced resettlement and internment camps without walls, for the original owners of this country. If they protest too loudly or get uppity, they are then thrown in jail on criminal charges.

COMMUNIST CHINA THROWS POLITICAL PRISONERS INTO JAIL AND THEN FORCES THEM TO DO SLAVE LABOR, JUST LIKE IN THE US PRIVATIZED SLAVE LABOR PRISONS

In Communist China, political prisoners are tossed into jail and forced to work in for profit prisons, which then export goods to foreign countries. Isn't this more or less the same as the for profit prison complex in America? Both have slaves/political prisoners working for free, and a state or corporation profiting from their imprisonment, with little incentive to release them.

Arresting someone for smoking a marijuana smoke and keeping them in a prison for life, working for free, could be considered worse than what Communist China does in their repressive state with political prisoners.

The drug war is a abysmal failure, but what it does do is use the government to eliminate the competition with the high profit Big Pharma medical industrial monopoly and patent drugs, which do the exact same thing as the 'illegal' black market drugs. Prohibition did not work, and neither does the war on drugs, for the exact same reasons.

WOMEN AS POLITICAL PRISONERS

Women are being held as political prisoners in the US. How does this work?

Republican War On Women, Pacifist Women Are Rising Up, Using Peaceful Weapons And Tools - Feminism And International Women's Day; Women's Rights Explored And Explained, Unwanted Pussy Grabbing, Groping, Kissing President Trump

Rich, old, white patriarchal males RULE and ENFORCE the war on women in the US. As long as the patriarchal good old boys club is in power, women will be held as political prisoners, because they have no power, and no voice.

Women did not used to have ANY power, ANY vote, or any ability to fight back. Up until not too long ago, women could not vote.... Wouldn't that be defined as being a political prisoner?

Wikipedia; "We women of America tell you that America is not a democracy. Twenty million women are denied the right to vote. President Wilson is the chief opponent of their national enfranchisement".[105] Another banner on August 14, 1917, referred to "Kaiser Wilson" and compared the plight of the German people with that of American women. With this manner of protest, the women were subject to arrests and many were jailed.[106]

On October 17, Alice Paul was sentenced to seven months and on October 30 began a hunger strike, but after a few days prison authorities began to force feed her.[105] After years of opposition, Wilson changed his position in 1918 to advocate women's suffrage as a war measure.[107]

The key vote came on June 4, 1920, when the Senate approved the amendment by 56 to 25 after four hours of debate, during which Democratic Senators opposed to the amendment filibustered to prevent a roll call until their absent Senators could be protected by pairs. The Ayes included 36 (82%) Republicans and 20 (54%) Democrats. The Nays comprised 8 (18%) Republicans and 17 (46%) Democrats. The Nineteenth Amendment, which prohibited state or federal sex-based restrictions on voting, was ratified by sufficient states in 1920.[108]
It is amazing how many women will vote for rich old white men who then make decisions against women, equal pay, equal rights, and against their children. And then women keep on voting for them, over and over again.

WHAT IS A POLITICAL PRISONER?

Wikipedia; "A political prisoner is someone imprisoned because they have opposed or criticized the government responsible.

The term is used by persons or groups challenging the legitimacy of the detention of a prisoner. Supporters of the term define a political prisoner as someone who is imprisoned for his or her participation in political activity. If a political offense was not the official reason for detention, the term would imply that the detention was motivated by the prisoner's politics.

VARIOUS DEFINITIONS

Some understand the term political prisoner narrowly, equating it with the term prisoner of conscience (POC). Amnesty International campaigns for the release of prisoners of conscience, which include both political prisoners as well as those imprisoned for their religious or philosophical beliefs. To reduce controversy, and as a matter of principle, the organization's policy applies only to prisoners who have not committed or advocated violence. Thus, there are political prisoners who do not fit the narrower criteria for POCs. The organisation defines the differences as follows:[1]

AI uses the term "political prisoner" broadly. It does not use it, as some others do, to imply that all such prisoners have a special status or should be released. It uses the term only to define a category of prisoners for whom AI demands a fair and prompt trial.

In AI's usage, the term includes any prisoner whose case has a significant political element: whether the motivation of the prisoner's acts, the acts in themselves, or the motivation of the authorities.

"Political" is used by AI to refer to aspects of human relations related to "politics": the mechanisms of society and civil order, the principles, organization, or conduct of government or public affairs, and the relation of all these to questions of language, ethnic origin, sex or religion, status or influence (among other factors).

The category of political prisoners embraces the category of prisoners of conscience, the only prisoners who AI demands should be immediately and unconditionally released, as well as people who resort to criminal violence for a political motive.

In AI's use of the term, here are some examples of political prisoners:
a person accused or convicted of an ordinary crime carried out for political motives, such as murder or robbery carried out to support the objectives of an opposition group;
a person accused or convicted of an ordinary crime committed in a political context, such as at a demonstration by a trade union or a peasants' organization;
a member or suspected member of an armed opposition group who has been charged with treason or "subversion".

Governments often say they have no political prisoners, only prisoners held under the normal criminal law. AI however describes cases like the examples given above as "political" and uses the terms "political trial" and "political imprisonment" when referring to them. But by doing so AI does not oppose the imprisonment, except where it further maintains that the prisoner is a prisoner of conscience, or condemn the trial, except where it concludes that it was unfair.

In the parlance of many political movements that utilize armed resistance, guerrilla warfare, and other forms of political violence, a political prisoner includes people who are imprisoned because they are awaiting trial for, or have been convicted of, actions which states they oppose describe as (accurately or otherwise) terrorism. These movements may consider the actions of political prisoners morally justified against some system of governance, may claim innocence, or have varying understandings of what types of violence are morally and ethically justified.

For instance, French anarchist groups typically call the former members of Action Directe held in France political prisoners. While the French government deemed Action Directe illegal, the group fashioned itself as an urban guerillamovement, claiming a legitimate armed struggle. In this sense, "political prisoner" can be used to describe any politically active prisoner who is held in custody for a violent action which supporters deem ethically justified.

Some also include all convicted for treason and espionage in the category of political prisoners. Currently, there is still much controversy and debate around how to define this term and which cases to include or exclude.[2]

Political prisoners can also be imprisoned with no legal veneer by extrajudicial processes. Some political prisoners need not be imprisoned at all. Supporters of Gedhun Choekyi Nyima in the 11th Panchen Lama controversy have called him a "political prisoner", despite the fact that he is not accused of a political offense. He is held under secluded house arrest.[3]

Political prisoners are also arrested and tried with a veneer of legality where false criminal charges, manufactured evidence, and unfair trials (kangaroo courts, show trials) are used to disguise the fact that an individual is a political prisoner. This is common in situations which may otherwise be decried nationally and internationally as a human rights violation or suppression of a political dissident. A political prisoner can also be someone that has been denied bail unfairly, denied parole when it would reasonably have been given to a prisoner charged with a comparable crime, or special powers may be invoked by the judiciary. Particularly in this latter situation, whether an individual is regarded as a political prisoner may depend upon subjective political perspective or interpretation of the evidence.[4]

NOTABLE GROUPS OF POLITICAL PRISONERS

In the Soviet Union, dubious psychiatric diagnoses were sometimes used to confine political prisoners in the so-called"psikhushkas".

In Nazi Germany, "Night and Fog" prisoners were among the first victims of fascist repression.

In the United States, African-American activists such as the Wilmington Ten (which included Benjamin Chavis), have been wrongfully imprisoned.[5][6]

In North Korea, entire families are jailed in large political prison camps (called Kwan-li-so) if one family member is suspected of anti-government sentiments.[7]

Around 1000 British convicts sent to Australia in the 1700-1800s.[8]

Political prisoners sometimes write memoirs of their experiences and resulting insights. See list of memoirs of political prisoners. Some of these memoirs have become important political texts.

FAMOUS HISTORICAL POLITICAL PRISONERS

Aung San Suu Kyi led the opposition National League for Democracy which was victorious in 1990 general election. Under jail or house arrest for 15 out of the 21 years from 1990 to 2010.[9]

Benazir Bhutto was a political prisoner for four years under General Zia ul Haq.[10]

Carlos Menem, former Argentine president who was a political prisoner under the National Reorganization Process.

Muhammad Ali, African-American boxing champion imprisoned by the US government for refusing to fight in the Vietnam War [11]

Antonio Gramsci was a leftist Italian writer and political activist who was jailed and spent 8 years in prison. He was released conditionally due to his health situation and died shortly after.[12]

Kim Dae Jung served one term (1976–1979) and in 1980 was exiled to the United States, but returned in 1985 and became President of South Korea in 1998.[13]

Thomas Mapfumo was imprisoned without charges in 1979 by the Rhodesian government in what is now Zimbabwe for his Shona-language music calling for revolution.[14]

Benigno Aquino Jr. of the Philippines was imprisoned during the martial law regime of Ferdinand Marcos

Mahatma Gandhi was imprisoned numerous times by the British both in South Africa and India.

Eugene Debs, leader of the Socialist Party of the United States, was imprisoned by the US government for his opposition to the First World War.

Dilma Rousseff current Brazilian president, was imprisoned by the right-wing military government between 1970 and 1973.

Emma Goldman was imprisoned for two years and then deported by the US government for her opposition to the First World War.[15]

John Maclean was imprisoned by the British government for his opposition to the First World War.

Bertrand Russell was imprisoned by the British government for six months for opposing the First World War.[16]

SUMMARY

Although the US government and huge corporate owned mass media offers the 'appearance' of freedom. But without a truly free and independent press, that is free of corrupting corporate influence, there is no real freedom or democracy.

With only a Dualopoly that forces people to vote for the lesser evil, there is no real or meaningful FREE will choice in government or politics. With corporate money controlling mass media, elections, and government via an army of lobbyists, who is serving the needs of the average US citizen?

Bottom line, the average US citizen is being held hostage and as a political prisoner in their own country by the monopolistic for profit corporate controlled Fascist Matrix that has embedded itself like an octopus in all arenas of influence or power.

Trump is just another 'tool' of the 1 percent and huge corporations, being 'used' to suppress and control the 99 percent, in favor of the 1 percent. MATURE RATING
