In the above pro-nuclear Japanese propaganda film, US students are shown shopping and eating local Fukushima province cherries, while reporting about how 'safe' a radiation contaminated area really is. The students are urged to tell all their friends and families that Fukushima is a great place to visit and that it is 'safe'. At least some of these students are being used to help decontaminate radiation contaminated areas.

The Japanese government and tourism industry is trying to stimulate the tourism industry to Japan, in part by using media to portray Japan as a great place to visit. More than 10 million people visited Japan in 2013, and their goal is to get many more people to visit there in the future, each year. The media is being used to portray Japan as being a safe, pleasant place to visit, including Fukushima province. 

But is visiting Japan really a good idea? In particular, is it a good idea to send young students over to Japan, specifically to radiation contaminated areas? Japan has set up student exchange programs. Thousands of young people plus English teachers from all over the world, (or more) are flying over to Japan on these foreign student exchange and English teaching programs. Just because it is happening, does not mean it is a good idea, especially from a health perspective. Tourists and parents of these young people especially may want to find out more. Fukushima Prefecture in Northeast Japan is about the size of Connecticut. 5 years after the tsunami and nuclear disaster, the explosions, the multiple meltdowns of the nuclear cores of units 1-3, the Prefecture is experiencing recurring radioactive recontamination. 

Only 2% of its land has been declared 'clean' by Japanese government, but at a level it has raised 20X higher than normal background radiation. The dust on the newly epoxyed roof of the townhall in Minamisoma tested at 300,000 becquerels of cesium per kilogram - an "astronomical" level. 1 Becquerel (bq) equals one atomic disintegration per second. 

Fukushima refugees returning to the contaminated areas have to breathe this dust! Radioactive 'hot spots' exist all over Japan. A house in Tokyo tested 125 millirems per hour of radiation when normal background radiation should be 100 millirems per YEAR at sea level. 

Japan is harassing doctors not to make any diagnosis that is radiation-related - causing some not to be paid by the govt if they do so, forcing them to close their offices or lose hospital privileges. Japan wants to stage Olympic Trials in Fukushima!

Few people understand the scope and scale of the Fukushima mega nuclear disaster. Even if somehow the Fukushima disaster happened and then ended, it gets worse from there. Japan has decided to burn radioactive waste from Fukushima all over Japan, thus spreading the hormesis health giving radiation benefits all over the country. HOW SAFE IS LOW DOSE RADIATION? 


Pro nuclear government, school, nuclear and medical authorities all claim that low dose radiation is harmless and 'safe', in amounts less than 100 Bq/kg in food/drinks or 300 Bq/kg interior body dosage. Do those radiation readings in the multi colored column above look 'safe' to you? Normal background radiation is normally in the single digits, not in the area of 18,000.. 

But it is not just people that are being affected in the very large area of radiation contaminated Japan. Both animals and plants are also being affected by the low dose radiation contamination. Just the same as animals, insects, birds and plants, so humans are also being affected in a negative way. There is no way to undo the DNA breaking mechanism that man made radiation causes. This DNA breakage is invisible and silent, not sensed by humans. Even if the present generation does not feel it, the next generation will experience it.

Even after the above, parents may still decide to send their children over to Japan, but may require them to have a radiation dosimeter that is turned on at all times. But this is not going to disclose all of the risks or even show what the true level of radiation is.  In addition, the risk from plutonium will not show up on either a dosimeter or a Geiger Counter, especially in the form of 'hot particles'.

HOW MUCH DOES THE AVERAGE PERSON TRUST THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT AND THE NUCLEAR INDUSTRY THAT CONTROLS IT?

Remember that the government and nuclear industry did not even disclose that the THREE reactors had melted down for THREE MONTHS. They never handed out KI tablets, which could have prevented close to 100 percent of all thyroid cancers. They did not evacuate the children, who are still living in highly radiation contaminated areas. They did not try and stop the corium meltouts from reaching groundwater, as was done at Chernobyl, using around 1 million people. Then the 'authorities' covered up and lied even more around just about everything around Fukushima. 

How much trust do the 1 percent deserve?

The government and medical experts gave pro nuclear propaganda speeches to residents DIRECTLY affected by radiation from the Fukushima disaster. These same authorities did not warn residents during the worst of the nuclear disaster, and kept saying that nothing bad was happening, while giving out no meaningful radiation numbers that would have warned people to evacuate immediately. These same pro nuclear 'experts' also blocked people from taking a needed preventative medicine in the worst time of the Fukushima nuclear disaster. This same thing happened in the US, in Russia, and other countries as well, after nuclear accidents there. 

If these government and medical professionals can do this to their own people and children in the worst time of a mega nuclear disaster, how much trust are you going to put in their actions and words after the worst of the disaster is over, now that the threat posed to you and your children 'only' consists of low dose radiation? Now these same profit motivated greed and power hungry individuals want to restart all of the closed down nuclear reactors and build many more new ones. Really?

COMPARING THE FUKUSHIMA MEGA NUCLEAR DISASTER TO THE TITANIC, COSTA CONCORDIA AND THE S. KOREA FERRY SINKINGS


The equivalent is like the recent South Korea ferry sinking with hundreds of children aboard, who drowned, because the captain and crew told the passengers to 'stay put' in their cabins and that everything was 'safe'. The lifeboats were never launched. Life preservers were not used. The captain and crew escaped, but a majority of the children died. How is the nuclear industry lack of warnings about dangerous radiation levels and not handing out KI tablets any different from the captains inaction above? Instead of hundreds of children dying on the ferry, TENS OF THOUSANDS of children died in the next several months after Fukushima, as a direct result of that accident, and the lack of warnings by the nuclear industry, government and health professionals.

If the nuclear 'experts' cannot warn their own citizens and give them a simple tablet to prevent harm about HUGE doses of radiation, and they are sending kids and pregnant moms back into this radiation contaminated zone, how are you going to trust them to inform you as an exchange student or as a tourist of the dangers and hazards posed by low dose radiation?

It is amazing how many people are in denial, totally asleep and unconscious as far as the invisible dangers posed by man made radioactive elements. Many people truly believe that if it is invisible, it must not exist, and can pose no danger.

Young Turks shares some information sent by an engineer who went into the Chernobyl exclusion zone, to help cleanup the site.

She shares some advice for people around Fukushima and for foreign visitors who may think that Fukushima, or Tokyo, or Japan is a great place to visit for whatever reason.. This short video is well worth listening to both by residents, tourists, and students thinking of going to Japan, anywhere north of Okinawa. Well actually, due to the burning of radioactive waste all over Japan, it is all of Japan really.
