WHAT IS THE CTBTO?

The CTBTO’s monitoring system, custom-made to detect nuclear explosions, can pick up a range of radioactive isotopes, among them iodine-131 and caesium-137. Looking at the ratios between the various radioactive isotopes – in particular caesium-137 – enables the source of the emission to be identified. In the case of the current readings, findings clearly indicate radionuclide releases from a damaged nuclear power plant, which are consistent with the recent accident at Fukushima in Japan. As of 13 April 2011, the average level of radioactivity picked up by the stations worldwide continued to decline, which is also due to the relatively short half-lives of iodine-131 (8 days) and xenon-133 (5.2 days).

The CTBTO's radionuclide stations are designed to register minuscule amounts of radioactive particles and noble gases – down to a number of a few atoms. The system’s sensitivity is second-to-none - it can detect a concentration of 0.1 g of radioactive xenon evenly distributed within the entire atmosphere of the Earth. A rooftop detector at the CTBTO's headquarters in Vienna still catches traces of emissions from the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.

CTBTO Initial findings

The first analysis results of the monitoring data became available a few days after the accident. A clear picture quickly emerged. Initial detections of radioactive materials were made on 12 March 2011 at the Takasaki monitoring station in Japan around 200 km away from the troubled power plant. The dispersion of the radioactive isotopes could then be followed to eastern Russia on 14 March 2011 and to the west coast of the United States two days later.

Nine days after the accident, the radioactive cloud had crossed Northern America. Three days later when a station in Iceland picked up radioactive materials, it was clear that the cloud had reached Europe. By day 15, traces from the accident in Fukushima were detectable all across the northern hemisphere. For the first four weeks, the radioactive materials remained confined to the northern hemisphere, with the equator initially acting as a dividing line between the northern and southern air masses. As of 13 April 2011, radioactivity had spread to the southern hemisphere of the Asia-Pacific region and had been detected at stations located for example in Australia, Fiji, Malaysia and Papua New Guinea.

Knowing what we KNOW about how much uranium was in the air, based on real data from EPA records, it is clear that 50 to 150 tons of uranium was aerosolized. The pro nuclear apologists claim that no plutonium was released from Fukushima. Or, they claim that if any was released, it stayed close by and was of no consequence, because plutonium is too heavy to travel very far. 

Plutonium has gone all around the world, after being launched into the jet stream by the Fukushima mega nuclear disaster. Everyone has breathed some in. Period. No one knows what effect that will have or how much of what people breathed in got stuck there and then concentrated in the lungs lymph nodes. Once the lymph nodes get concentrations of plutonium or other radioactive elements in them, that has a negative effect on the immune system and blood, which may then result in leukemia or lung cancer after many years of latency period, which all medical doctors know about.

Based on the “noise” in the images, the utility estimated that one area of the containment vessel was emitting radiation at a level of 530 sieverts per hour — enough to kill a human in under a minute. Only emissions up to 73 Sv/hour had been detected before at the reactor, which was crippled by a March 2011 tsunami.

Tepco previously believed that most of the reactor’s nuclear fuel had been contained in the pressure vessel, based on last year’s muon tomography inspection — a technique similar to X-rays but more powerful. But “it’s highly possible that melted fuel leaked through,” said Yuichi Okamura, a company spokesman for nuclear power.

Where is the dam corium, TEPCO?

It has taken this long (2011 to 2017) to figure out that there is a hole in the bottom of the reactor and the grate 8 meters below the reactor vessel is MELTED AWAY, due to falling molten corium, which is much hotter than molten steel.

But they won't look down below, nor admit that multiple reactors suffered from a China Syndrome. Looking down below is not polite, so they just won't do it. The nuclear mafia has to maintain appearances and pretend the world is still normal and ok.

At ~15:00 in Arnold Gundersen, Nuclear Engineer: "Unit 3 had 30 bundles of MOX fuel... All the reactors have plutonium in them... Uranium-238 becomes plutonium-239 when it absorbs a neutron... There was close to a ton of plutonium in each of the reactors... scattered throughout the fuel... A ton of plutonium in each reactor... you and I know how dangerous plutonium can be... makes the cleanup that much more difficult."

Since #3 burned MOX plutonium fuel, that is potentially also going into the air even today. Then it goes downwind and all around the world. Since almost no one is measuring plutonium specifically or studying it, no one knows exactly how much plutonium was released, what is still in the air, or what plutonium came down and where. 

Gunderson explained in a talk about how Unit #3 was venting hot radioactive gases, directly from where containment should be. The temperature of these highly radioactive gases was 120 C. Steam only goes up to 100 C, so this also means that #3 was not in cold shutdown, as TEPCO claimed. For 'cold shutdown' to exist, all parts of the reactor have to be below the boiling point of water. This is the same general area that 'steam' is coming out of now.

Fukushima is also 'leaking' a river of at least 400 TONS of radioactive water into the ocean PER DAY, with almost no efforts to stop it, since 3/11 up to today. The IAEA plan is to DUMP ALL radioactive water on site into the ocean. Again, no one is tracking the effect of this radiation going into the air and ocean as well as groundwater. No one seems to care how these highly radioactive heavy metal poisons affect the Pacific and all sea life.

TEPCO claims this is all 'within legal limits'. But no one is checking on whether they are telling the truth. We know how long the IAEA, WHO, NRC and TEPCO Pinochio noses are at this point, right?

When multiple Fukushima reactors and spent fuel pools melted down and reactor #3 'exploded', they released all together an estimated 600 to 6,000 pounds of plutonium, which then traveled all around the world. What effect will these 'hot' plutonium nano particles have on health of fetuses, infants, children, pregnant moms, the elderly and communities in general?

Humans more than likely (and hopefully) have a much longer incubation period, and possibly may have a different outcome, other than 100% mortality rate, but no studies have been done in this direction on large numbers of people. Maybe the 1.5 -5 years is the incubation period for humans too, and maybe it is even shorter than in dogs. Medical experts such as Dr. Helen Caldicott MD seem to indicate that plutonium incubation times can be up to 30 years. 

Kevin believes the incubation period for cancers from plutonium may be 30 years, but in his own example he got leukemia within 7 months after Fukushima let loose with a huge amount of plutonium... How would anyone know if the leukemia they or their children get was due to open air nuclear bomb testing, or from Fukushima? What test could be done to figure out the answer to this? Human Radiation Experiments Performed Without Consent Or Knowledge

Everyone in the Northern Hemisphere got dosed with plutonium, based on the Lithuania plutonium study. To date, everyone is still being dosed with plutonium on a daily basis with low nano levels of plutonium, in water, food and to a small extent the air we breathe.

Plutonium cycles through and bio concentrates up the food chain, just like all of the other 1,300 Frankenstein sons and daughters of radioactive elements. Because plutonium is so hard to track and measure, it is almost impossible to detect by the average person. Even those who own a pancake Geiger Counter will not be able to detect plutonium, because it is deadly in amounts too small to measure.



In 1971, radiation specialist Dr. Ernest Sternglass, determined that nuclear fallout was the dominant ocean pollutant during the years of bomb testing (1947-1963) primarily by the nuclear superpowers the US, Soviet Union, and UK. The 65% decline was not reversed after the 1963 Partial Test Ban Treaty ending US, Soviet Union and UK bomb tests, because France and China continued tests until 1993. 

Dr. Sternglass was able to estimate that the deposition of just 250 Curies of Sr-90 and 1300 associated fission products from nuclear tests, caused a 1% reduction in the California fishing catch. 

In other words, 0.1 kilo Curies of Sr-90 led to a 1% reduction in the fish population for every 2.5 kilotons equivalent of fresh fission products released into the ocean. This is 2000 times less than total yield for typical warheads (such as “Canikin”) that were tested for anti-ballistic missile systems. Dr. Sternglass concluded: 

“Thus, although a leak into the fishing grounds of the North Pacific is regarded as unlikely, the consequences of even a small escape of radioactivity localized as it would necessarily be, unlike in the case of an upper stratospheric detonation of such a warhead, could be of disastrous consequences both for the fishing industry and the fish and wildlife of the entire Northern Pacific.” Source: Sternglass, E.J., “Fallout and Reproduction of Ocean Fish Populations”, unpublished Oct. 8, 1971.

Researchers could theoretically track the mortality rate between the northern and southern hemisphere and find out what difference ingestion of plutonium makes long term on human health and mortality rates. There was a boundary between the Southern and Northern hemisphere as far as air circulation at least for awhile. 

That boundary in global air patterns should show up in some study that tracks the effects of plutonium. That initial difference could then be confirmed by taking lung tissue samples and comparing those in the Northern hemisphere to those in the Southern hemisphere. Put slices of lung tissue on Xray film, and compare the 'hot' dark spots that show up from North to South.

…Plutonium, one of the most deadly radioactive substances, is an alpha emitter. It is highly toxic, and one millionth of a gram will induce cancer if inhaled into the lung. As an iron analogue, it combines with transferrin. It causes liver cancer, bone cancer, leukemia, or multiple myeloma. 

It concentrates in the testicles and ovaries where it can induce testicular or ovarian cancer, or genetic diseases in future generations. It also crosses the placenta where it is teratogenic, like thalidomide. There are medical homes near Chernobyl full of grossly deformed children, the deformities of which have never before been seen in the history of medicine.

The half-life of plutonium is 24,400 years, and thus it is radioactive for 250,000 years. It will induce cancers, congenital deformities, and genetic diseases for virtually the rest of time.

Plutonium is also fuel for atomic bombs. Five kilos is fuel for a weapon which would vaporize a city. Each reactor makes 250 kg of plutonium a year. It is postulated that less than one kilo of plutonium, if adequately distributed, could induce lung cancer in every person on earth."

PLUTONIUM IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DETECT, NEEDS SPECIAL DETECTION DEVICE


Because plutonium is so hard to detect with a just a standard Geiger counter, a plutonium detector has to be very sensitive, tuned to just the right 'frequency' and show the plutonium as a 'spike' in a graph.. Here is just one example of a plutonium detector device. You will notice this device is nothing like a standard Geiger counter, which only registers clicks per minute, or a gross radiation reading.
