The environmental group  — released a report collecting statements from 195 heads of state showing their acceptance of climate change science and, often, their push to address the issue.

They say that Americans will do everything wrong that is possible to do wrong, before they finally do it 'right'. Well, President Trump is setting out to do everything wrong that he can possibly do, so that American can finally go about doing it 'right' in the end. The wrong thing to do is to pursue the most expensive, toxic, deadly energy source, which has no answer for nuclear waste, and that waste has to be guarded for tens of thousands of years. That does not sound like a good idea, just to boil water for 30 years, wouldn't you agree? 

Every nuclear power plant is a nuclear weapons manufacturing facility, because they all make the fuel that is required inside nuclear bombs. Anyone opposed to nuclear weapons is also required to be opposed to nuclear plants that use fission or fusion.

The White House Revives a Controversial Plan for Nuclear Waste
“You’d have to say the glass is half full for Yucca Mountain,” said David Blee, the executive director of the United States Nuclear Infrastructure Council, a consortium of nuclear industry companies that support the project. While not exactly exuberant, it’s the most optimistic assessment of Yucca Mountain in years.

Considerable challenges are still head for reviving the project. Assuming Congress approves the $120 million, the federal government faces deeply entrenched opposition in Nevada. The state has filed 218 contentions against the Department of Energy’s application for the storage site, detailing both technical and legal concerns. Going through the contentions will take an estimated four to five years of hearings and cost the federal government $2 billion—all before the shovel even hits the ground.

Yucca Mountain has never had the geology for safe storage. The nuclear industry wants the taxpayers to be responsible for nuclear accidents, so they want a central repository. Also, without a repository, no new nuclear reactors can be approved. But the original studies were falsified.

Solar power, on the other hand, has gotten so cheap in the past few years that the state’s utilities could massively expand their renewable energy capacity at a long-term cost savings.

It would not necessarily cost ratepayers any money up front to build a new solar farm, and it could actually save them money on their electric bills.

In fact, solar is now the cheapest way to build new electricity generating capacity — even without any kind of subsidy, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance and other sources.

It’s cheaper than coal. It’s far cheaper than nuclear. It’s even cheaper than natural gas, which itself has dropped dramatically in price as fracking has expanded.

Compare that to the nine times SCE&G has raised electricity rates in the past eight years just to pay for the two new reactors, both of which face an uncertain future after the main contractor in charge of constructing them filed for bankruptcy earlier this month.

As someone who covered climate science during the Russian-fabricated “climategate” scandal and who has moderated thousands of comment threads over the past 7 or so years (tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of individual comments), I have come to learn a few things about the “democratic web.”

As everyone should know by now, Russia clearly had a hand in electing Donald Trump — a big one — and that was not only in hacking and fake news (though, it’s great those stories got out there and got so much attention). Russia was also very clearly involved in internet astroturfing in countless comment threads. Such astroturfing often comes across as idiotic to humans with their heads screwed on straight, but it is actually highly effective. (If it wasn’t, Russia wouldn’t be spending tens of millions of dollars on this strategy.)

Basically, many of the comments posted on popular media sites and blogs — as well as on sites like Facebook, reddit, and Twitter — are not authentic, real, legit comments. In plenty of cases, they aren’t even from humans. In many more cases, they are from paid “trolls.”

Because Putin has a huge incentive to fight all forms of renewable energy globally, because it benefits Russian oil exporting companies. Anyone associated with Putin or his oligarch owned companies also expresses a rabid pro nuclear, pro fossil fuel belief system, exactly like Trump. This belief system includes a denial of global warming, and a support of authoritarian 1 percent controlled top down industries such as fossil fuel and nuclear energy sources, exactly as Trump expresses it, with his love of Putin, Saudi Arabia, Erdogan, and Duterte, plus hatred of democracies, such as Germany.

Trump has claimed many times that he has received awards around the environment, leading people to believe he is pro environment, when the actual facts are that he is a destroyer of the environment, and hates all forms of renewable energy, including wind, solar, geothermal, etc.

The short answer is: No. Media outlets and environmental groups have tried to find evidence of this claim since 2011 but have come up short. We could not readily find references to Trump’s environmental awards in news coverage over the past 10 years. We checked with the Natural Resources Defense Council Action Fund, the Environmental Defense Fund and the Sierra Club, and none had any record of Trump’s environmental awards.

In fact, environmentalists have criticized many of Trump’s projects. In 2008, Trump faced backlash from local officials and environmentalists in Scotland when he proposed to build a golf course on protected sand dunes. During a hearing on the project, Trump called the state of the site “kind of disgusting.”

During the 2008 hearing, Trump said he didn’t read his environmental consultants’ advice because he didn’t need to. From the Wall Street Journal’s coverage of the hearing:

“I would consider myself an environmentalist in the true sense of the word,” Mr. Trump said, a comment that drew so much laughter from the public gallery that the inquiry chairman had to call for order.

Ultimately, Trump got his project approved after promising to create jobs for local workers. Trump later fought an offshore wind farm project near his golf resort in Scotland, saying the wind turbines sullied the view from his course.

Trump’s Budget Proposal Comes Down Hard on Solar Energy - But to What Effect?
More than 50 programs within the EPA are slated to be cut as part of Trump’s budget plan. Additionally, key research initiatives, grants and loan programs that fuel clean energy adoption are also scheduled to be curtailed.

The State Energy Program—which provides states more than $28 million a year to fund energy efficiency efforts to combat climate change—is headed for the ax.The Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy—established a decade ago to finance alternative energy projects the private sector would otherwise not pursue—is similarly in the balance. That registers another $382 million that could dry up immediately if the new budget is enacted in full. These examples are but a few key rollbacks on the horizon. In total, expected cuts to the 2018 budget would lead to a six percent reduction in Energy Department spending and a 31 percent decline in EPA funding. One of the largest impacts that Trump’s budget may have indirectly on solar is the termination of the Clean Power Plan, which would lose funding entirely.

US IS WAY BEHIND COUNTRIES LIKE GERMANY, WHICH ARE MOVING AHEAD RAPIDLY INTO A ZERO CARBON, ZERO NUCLEAR FUTURE


The US is way behind, and falling further behind every day, with a myopic focus on monopolistic top down controlled oil, gas and nuclear power.

"One hundred percent of the new electric generating capacity added to the US power grid in March came from solar power, according to a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) report. The report notes that a total of 44 MW of capacity were added from a total of seven projects in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey and North Carolina. 

Notably, the FERC report tracks only utility-scale solar power, which is designed to be distributed through the power grid by utility companies much like traditionally sourced power. The report does not include rooftop systems for individual homes and businesses ("distributed capacity").

Spiritual Ecology The world's largest solar plant officially opened this week in the California desert. It produces a gross total of 392 megawatts (MW) of solar power, enough electricity to provide 140,000 homes with clean energy and avoid 400,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide per year, equal to removing 72,000 vehicles off the road. But it's complicated. It uses lots of land—a staggering 5 square miles—and growing evidence shows that the intense heat surrounding the tower and mirror technology (reaches 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit) is killing birds. 

What's the solution?

Some people would argue and say that solar cannot supply all of the world's energy, because the sun only shines during the day and no solar energy is available at night. That is true, but if one combines other zero carbon renewable energy storage methods, such as cracking water into hydrogen and then burning it for energy when the sun is not shining, or pumping water uphill, and then generating power by running it through a water power generator, the problems are solved. 

Add in other zero carbon energy sources that do not need the sun, such as tides, geothermal and wind, and it gets easier and easier to create a zero carbon, zero nuclear future because the square feet of solar panels keeps dropping, the more other renewable sources are added in. Of course, the carbon and nuclear monopolies will tell you all kinds of lies to keep everyone hooked on their dirty expensive energy. 


OFF GRID HOMES ARE LIVING EXAMPLE OF 100 PERCENT ZERO CARBON AND ZERO NUCLEAR IN ACTION


On on individual home basis, off grid homes are a living example of how a 100% zero carbon energy future is possible. Homes such as the Earthship need no cooling or heating because they are designed to use passive energy storage, solar heating for water and and produce their own electricity which is then stored in batteries for later use. Water is collected by the roof, stored in underground tanks and then recycled to be used again in grey and black water systems. 

SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC ROOFED HOMES ARE ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HOW SOLAR CAN SUPPLY 100 PERCENT OF ALL ENERGY NEEDED

Homes that are hooked to the grid can and do generate enough energy to zero out all of their energy needs, plus feed back extra into the grid for a complete year energy use budget. Thousands of homes are doing that now. Imagine all homes in the US doing this, and you start getting the idea of how it can be done. Paying for this decentralized power source is easy, as bonds are now being issued to finance systems and the payments are added on to tax bills, which stay with the home. A net reduction in total energy costs makes it worthwhile to do this, and who doesn't like saving money?

Provisional final figures on Sunday showed support at 58.2 percent under the Swiss system of direct democracy, which gives voters final say on major policy issues.

The Swiss initiative mirrors efforts elsewhere in Europe to reduce dependence on nuclear power, partly sparked by Japan’s Fukushima disaster in 2011. Germany aims to phase out nuclear power by 2022, while Austria banned it decades ago.
