Salmon Mass Die Off Timeline 2011 To 2017 Due To Fukushima Mega Nuclear Disaster Heavy Metal Radioactive Acid Poisons, Previous Mass Die Offs From Dams, Viruses, Running The Gauntlet; PBS Nature Movie, Wild Salmon Compared To Farmed Salmon

It used to be that just about any waterway, creek, stream or river had up to several million salmon going up it several times per year, on various 'runs'. Salmon creek in California, shown here, is named for all of the salmon that used to pack into it, but are no longer there.

The sad story of this creek is the same one as all of the rivers and streams running into the Pacific ocean.. Salmon populations have crashed universally, and in many or most of these waterways, their levels are now 1 percent of what they used to be, or they are gone completely. Sadly, that 1 percent which is left is in most cases only there, because it is supported artificially by fish hatcheries.

A PBS film investigates the parallel stories of collapsing Pacific salmon populations and how biologists and engineers have become instruments in audacious experiments to replicate every stage of the fish’s life cycle. Later in the article, more recent mass die off reports of salmon on the west coast are explored, organized by year, starting in 2011.

This movie goes into the role of dams, locks and man's attempts at 'controlling' Nature, and what effect this has on salmon as well as the whole ecosystem. This is a very well done story, and is highly recommended for family viewing.

The government and the nuclear power industry claim we have nothing to worry about. When you see the photos, you may want decide for yourself if they're telling the truth.

Alaska salmon as well as all types of Pacific seafood (Shrimp, clams, scallops, squid, etc.) are being tainted with radioactive contamination. So are the people who consume them. What do you think happens to people who eat radiation-contaminated food? Worse, what happens to people who eat cancerous tumors without knowing what they are?

According to the Local Environmental Observers (LEO) Network in Hydaburg, Alaska, they have found strange growths in the flesh or meat of salmon. "We were fishing for Cohos (silver salmon) at the mouth of the Hydaburg River with line and reel." said Brian Holter, Jr. who said that eight fish were filled up inside with strange growths that were either white or pink in color. "On the outside the fish looked fine. The growths looked kind of like individual little salmon eggs, and about the same size, their people were seeing the same kind of growths in their fish as well."

STUDY SAYS FUKUSHIMA RADIATION WILL CAUSE LONG TERM HARM TO PACIFIC SALMON POPULATION


Study: Fukushima radiation will cause long-term harm to Pacific salmon population — Efforts needed to protect species from possible extinction — Radiation monitoring is critical to avoid human health problems — “US inland areas also at risk of exposure”

Pacific Pink Salmon, on the other hand, will simply decline at a faster pace than the expected population decline… radioactive effluent will result in a marked and lasting decrease in population [see Fig. 5, 6]…
The very high rate of decline of the Pacific Pink Salmon indicates that live specimens may contain relatively high levels of radioactivity. Continued monitoring of the Pacific Pink Salmon, as well as all marine species, for radioactivity will be critical to the avoidance of health problems for humans. Because the species migrates throughout freshwater rivers and tributaries of British Columbia, Alaska, and the Pacific Northwest of the United States, inland areas are also at risk of exposure to, at the very least, low-level radioactivity. Moreover, the rapid rate of decline of the Pacific Pink Salmon, in conjunction with rapidly deteriorating conditions, seems to necessitate drastic action. Work beyond sustainability is needed to protect the species from possible extinction…

Chum salmon (blue) have the largest natural range of any Pacific salmon, and undergo the longest migrations within the genus Oncorhynchus. Chum are found around the north Pacific, in the waters of Korea, Japan, and the Okhotsk and Bering seas, British Columbia in Canada, and from Alaska to California in the United States. The native range of pink salmon (green) is from the Arctic and Pacific drainages from Mackenzie River delta, the Northwest Territories, to the Sacramento River drainage, California (occasionally as far south as La Jolla, southern California) and in the west from the Lena River in Siberia to Korea. Populations in Asia occur as far south as Honshu in Japan. “This is a Herculean effort,” said Andrew Hughan, spokesman for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. That agency is mounting the salvage operation in tandem with federal officials.

August 25, 2014 brainheart  And...the Bonneville Dam fish ladders and fish hatchery.... The posting about the Dalles took my mind further up the Columbia....I can say without any doubt that the first time that I went to the fish hatchery in 1999, all of the pools were full of fish and practically every space that could contain fish was full. Now, only about 10% of the pools have any fish. And, the sturgeon do not appear to be thriving as strongly as in the past. Just personal observation.

August 25, 2014 Via Johnny Blade "My friend, one of few left surviving who I can actually call "my friend" was living with other family members in the Aleutian Islands for many years came back to Chicago to bury his mother who it turned out was diagnosed; treated for cancer at the same hospital at the same time my wife was going through "round #1" of her cancer treatments and I didn't even recognize her after her age, illness changed her appearance from the way I remembered her. He went back a few months ago to AK to work on a fishing boat he'd made a decent living from only to turn up back here again, explained,"The ship's captain had died of an aggressive cancer in less than 4 months from the time of the onset of symptoms,diagnosis, had a heart attack during radiation "therapy"! The late-captain's son took over and all he'd caught was debris from the 311 tsunami??!! EVERYTHING was DEAD or sickly and they wound up losing the boat after missing too many payments, NO FISH could be found! Now my 45 yr. old friend is going for MRI's,etc. for a "growth" on his thyroid and liver!!"

March 19, 2013 U.S. scientists find Fukushima cesium in turtles, whales, fish 

Alexandra Morton has documented extremely abnormal things happening with salmon that she is studying in her area. She is investigating viruses as the cause and does not seem to be looking in the direction of radiation at all. Even low doses of radiation does cause immune systems to become weaker, making all life weaker and subject to viral and bacterial attacks. 


1. Prespawn mortality (PSM). Pictures of salmon with full load of eggs, died before laying them.
2. Pink salmon that were a deep, canary yellow
3. Salmon gill arches and spines are yellow, cartilage in their head is yellow. 
4. Salmon spleens are swollen and enlarged.
5. Livers are spotted. 
6. Salmon eyes are bugged out.

REPORTS OF SICK SEALS, WHITE GOO INSIDE SEALS, CROWS WON'T EAT IT



A fisherman said that salmon all up and down the west coast are not going up the rivers, and catch is down 40 to 60%. They are staying in the ocean and not going into fresh water in the places he is aware of.  There may be one or two exceptions here or there, but the overall trend in rivers from Alaska, Canada, Washington, Oregon, and California is that salmon numbers are down about 50%. Then most of the ones showing up in the ocean are not going up the rivers. Yes, there may be exceptions of record runs in one river here and there, but overall, the runs seem to be down.

SALMON NOT GOING UP RIVERS, JUST HANGING OUT AT ENTRANCE TO RIVER


Salmon are just hanging out in the ocean in front of the rivers. That is strange behavior all by itself, very worrisome in fact. This is potentially HUGE… because if the salmon do not go up the rivers, they do not lay eggs and breed. The next generation of salmon; where do they come from if the salmon are not going up the rivers and laying eggs? On the positive side, the adult surviving salmon get larger each year, because they only die if they go up into the fresh water. So the fishermen are all excited, because each year, the fish get larger.

I sold the boat after fishing for forty years; looks like death in a unimaginational scale out there to me. I will spend the rest of the time left with my family. I lost my living at 57. Who knows how long we got left with no real info; just cover ups in the good old USA."

Mon, 2012-07-02 My wife and I are avid salmon consumers. We live in Seattle and have followed with concern the radiation leakage occurring in the Pacific from Fukushima. Due to the lack of current testing of presently caught salmon by either the US or Canada governments, we decided to have two sockeye samples tested ourselves. I purchased two Copper River sockeye samples from our local PCC Natural Markets Store (similar to Whole Foods, but located only in the metro Seattle area) last Thursday morning. I then packed them in ice and shipped them overnight to the Radiation Center at Oregon State University in Corvallis. They arrived in Corvallis on Friday morning. The Senior Health Physicist for the Center then ran radiation exposure tests on each sample with their High Purity Geranium detector (I also paid for this testing). The results showed the following:

Cesium 134 (bq/kg):
Sample 1 - 9.02 x 10
Sample 2 - 8.91 x 10

Cesium 137 (bq/kg):
Sample 1 -    1.47
Sample 2 -    1.26

"Nuclear expert Arnie Gundersen says that high-level friends in the State Department told him that Hillary Clinton signed a pact with her counterpart in Japan agreeing that the U.S. will continue buying seafood from Japan, despite that food not being tested for radioactive materials."

One indication of just how bad things are getting in the Pacific is a study showed that 98 percent of the ocean bottom 150 miles offshore in the Pacific was covered with formerly living sea creatures. The normal amount was 1 percent.

SUMMARY

Many people in the nuclear industry are working very, very hard to convince the masses that nuclear power and man made radioactive elements are safe for humans, plants and animals. As more nuclear disasters happen, this myth will slowly be extinguished, hopefully sooner rather than later. 

Chronic, cumulative radiation starting at 'diluted' levels in the air, water and ground concentrates and accumulates up the food chain. This radiation and it's negative effects can be measured, reported, and analyzed, but the nuclear industry is doing the exact opposite of this. 

Bottom line, the studies provided in this article prove that low dose radiation has a severe and long lasting negative effect on fish eggs and young. Fukushima was the DIRECT cause of a mass die off of eggs, young fish and more in the Pacific ocean. The longer term effects will become more noticeable, and the mass die offs of multiple other species is an ongoing saga. Notably, no one is testing these other multiple species that are dying off for radiation of any kind.

Tell them you want a child whole body radiation scan program set up and large scale seafood radiation testing, especially for any foods or drinks coming in from Japan.

Encourage them to create a bill around this either in state or  for the entire USA.
